Simple trick for taking those chalky calcuim tablets
I accidentally discovered a way to make taking those chalky calcium citrate tablets a little easier - just take them at the same time as you take a chewable vitamin like the Centrum chewables.
Yup, it's obvious, I know - but I hadn't thought of it until the other day when I was in a hurry and tossed in a couple calcium tabs and the vitamin in at the same time. It made it a whole lot easier to swallow the calcium!
You had the sleeve, so your nutrional requirements are much different then a RNYers or DSer. The reason DSers (and I'm assuming RNYers) do not take calcium at the same time as a multi or iron is that there is "comptetion for absorbtion in a shortened digestive track. For instance if you take iron at the same time as calcium, you won't absorb as much of either of them as if you took them at different times.
I've been told (hearsay, research, doctor, etc) that it's best to wait at least 2 hours inbetween taking a multi to take calcium to make sure that there is limited competition. Granted it's better to take suppliments then take no suppliments, and again you had the sleeve so your "vitamin" deficiency issue is a lot less then a RNYers or DSers.
There are better tasting calciums though.....Citrical has a Calcium citrate chew in several flavors, the only down side is that they do have 5 grams of sugar per chew.
