Jake, I see your heart attack, and raise you one seizure!!!
Well, friends, never in my life would I have thought of using the term "seizure" when talking about me, now that has changed.
It was Friday morning, my wife was getting ready for work, I was sleeping since I work at night. My wife came over to me to tell me she would see me later. I was laying on my side, eyes rolled back, lips blue, choking, and convulsing. My wife immediately called 911, especially since I don't have a history of of seizures. When the paramedics got here it was over, and I was back to sleep. They tried to wake me, but it took a while. I was in a very deep sleep. They were finally able to wake me, then started asking me questions, "What day is it? ......that kinda stuff.....I wasn't giving the answers they were looking for. The paramedics decided to take me to the hospital. Only thing is I live in an upstairs apartment. So they helped me walk down the stairs and put me on a stretcher downstairs. (I don't remember any of it) Once we get to the hospital, blood was drawn, CT scan on my brain (they didn't find one, LOL). All the tests were negative anyway. The doctors are baffled as to why I had a seizure. The only explanation they could give me is that I may be overstressed. Who isn't! I just thank God that the tests were normal.
Maybe I'll start meditating.
I'm still kicking!

The weird part is that I don't remember any of it. I don't remember having a seizure, don't remember my wife trying to wake me up, don't remember the paramedics much, it all seems like a dream. A very bad dream. I can't remember much of what happened here at home or at the hospital, nor can I remember much of the rest of the day Friday. Saturday morning isn't too clear either. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The docs seem to think it was brought on by stress. We (my family) are moving to Colorado next month, or that's the plan anyway. My wife and I both need to find jobs there, and we need to find a house. That's really the only stress in my life right now. I've been in these situations before with no ill effects. Maybe I'm just getting old. I'm only 36, surely that can't be it. Right?
The doc said that over 50% of folks who have an ititial seizure never have a second one. We're praying that I fall into that category.
Take care,

yeah ron, i was gonna say the docs might not do anything even if you have them only a few times a year. our Chili, who passed recently had cluster seizures. not pretty. they say it's harder on those who witness the event. yes and no. he was really in bad shape after the seizure for days. but enough of that. let's hope it's an isolated case. you know, when gail and i both got shingles the doc thought it was due to stress. at that time chili was dying. i think he could be right about that. our minds and bodies do crazy things under stress. get better buddy.......carbonblob
