Third day post op
Well I've been trolling for along time and this is my first post. I had my RNY on the 20th. So far everything seems to be going OK. I sure am struggling with getting my fluids in. I always feel like about to float away. I'm not to sore but I sure am tired. I have to force myself to get my protein in, and my insides have never been this noisy before. I've been able to walk about two blocks 2-3 times a day so far but end up being real tired after the walk. I'm sure all of these things are normal and i should start feeling a little better every day. Like everyone says sip, sip, walk walk. Iknow it's going to much better in the long run. My wife is trying to get her iron up so she can have her surgery soon
Thanks Dave
Hi Dave,
Welcome to Locker Room and the Loser's Bench. It's good to have you.
You seem to be right on course: We all feel like we're going to drown at first, fatigue is par for the course and. yep, sip, sip, walk, walk does the trick.
It took me a couple of weeks to lose the fatigue and probably a couple more to feel any "energy." Your bod's been through a lot and now you're starving it! What's a poor old bod to think? Pretty soon, though, the bod will be shouting hallelujah!
Hang in there and check in with the board regularly.
Doug

Hi Dave,
Welcome aboard. The first month or so is a major adjustment. Physically. Mentally, and emotionally. You'll live through it.
Do the best you can on fluids and protein. Don't be discouraged if you don't get them all in. Few of us did. Keep on walking. Try for a little more everyday. If you need a nap- take one. You'll find that the more active you are, the more energy you'll have. Take it at your own pace. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
We're here if you need us. Stop by anytime. Can't wait for you to start stinkin' up the joint with all the FART's coming your way.
