Hi Guys, It looks like today is the day for FART's so I thought I would tell you about the one I had last night.  As you can tell by my handle and the picture of the '58 pan head in my signature I own a couple of harley's and ride every day. I have had my '58 pan head for 29 years. I have a leather jacket that I bought at a harley shop 28 years ago. You know the kind, the old school Marlon Brando looking thing. I have out grown it several times and the last time I could wear it was at least 9 years ago.  I was hanging up a shirt last night and culling some clothes and I looked over an saw my old friend hanging there and thought "I may be able to wear it now", as soon as I slipped one sleeve on I got excited because I knew it was going to fit. Sure enough it did. I wasn't really cold this morning but I wore it in to work on this morning's ride.  I was 21 when I bought that jacket and the memories it brings back are unreal. Well, the ones I can remember. At 21 partying and chasing women was my main focus. Big surprise there.  If I had listened to my wife it would have been gone years ago. But this morning I shared a ride and some memories with an old friend. LIFE IS GOOD pan head

Tissue,.....wheres a tissue,.... That was ,...beautiful man. I know the feeling.  My wife and daughters threw mw a surprise 50th in May and they had a table with memoribilia from each decade of my life, as it was avaiable.  They had my HS letter jacket that was buried in the front room coat closet.  It isn't in real good shape (satin lining pretty dry-rotten), but I tried and it fit.  I was 230 in HS and 246 on my 50th (thanks to WLS).  I just didn't have anyone to wrestle or tackle,..so you got me on the bike ride,...but I was feeling the jazz none the less. Thanks for sharing.

Real tear jerker aint it? Strange how an object like a jacket can evoke memories from the past. to be honest ever since I started this and have been loosing weight I have been looking at that jacket and thinking "I will wear it again' and it happened. Strange I know.  pan head

I saw your bike on your profile saweeeeeeeeeeeeeettt!  That is a one fine bike I've got an '04 Roadking, but don't ride as much as I used to, or would like to.  I've got a leather vest that I bought a couple years ago, and invested about $40 in patches into.  I just invested another $30 into it - getting that "tent" taken in quite a bit so that it fits right now

Thanks, I started looking for a picture of me to put in my profile and found the pictures of my pan and I know I would rather look at it than me so I posted it's picture.  I also have '99 ultra that I ride every day. It has that magic button. You just pu**** and the thing starts. My wife says she bought it for me. She did write out the check for the payment. It is about to turn over 80,000 miles, 79,400 and something.  I had to replace my vest . it would have been to hard to alter. It has concealed carry pockets made in both sides.  I ride with a m/c club so I had to transfer my back patch and a few others.  pan head

That's a nice one. My best friend just came out for a visit. He brought with him my leather jacket from high school. It was so fun to put it on again and act all cool. It's one of those really embarrassing black leather 1982 bomber jackets with the really tight waist and blousy cut. Ahhhhh...the good old days.

BEAUTIFUL bike - and a great story!   I wish I had something to say like that, but the plain fact of the matter is, my wife bought me an awesome HD leather jacket last fall, and I love it.  However, it's a 4x, and at the rate I'm going, next fall when it'll be cool enough for me to wear it comfortably here in Southern California, it'll most likely be entirelyi too big.   Great story, though!

pan, you're talking about something dear to my heart now... I miss riding.  Had to give it up when my back got bad.. pinched nerve and balancing a bike do not work well... had to sell, and haven't ridden in several years. That's one of my goals after surgery.. simply to be able to ride again.  People who've never ridden would never understand. Never had a Harley, but I've had a 63 BSA, 2 Kawasaki's, a Yamaha, and a Honda.  Will have me  Harley someday, but hey, in the wind is in the wind. Of course my bro just bought a 98 Heritage to torture me....... :) Congrats! Dale

Thanks Dale,  I don't know what I would do if I couldn't ride. When I need to relax or just get into my head I go for a ride. I can think if I need to or crank up rock on the ultra and hit the curves and not think about anything but the road. That is one good thing about WV we have lots of good roads to ride.  I don't judge a man by the brand of motorcycle he rides. if you treat me with respect I will treat you the same. I had my pan head tore down doing some work to it one spring and one of my club brothers let me ride his Norton Chopper for a month. It was a lot of fun. It was a 650 I believe. It was a while ago and I was a lot yonger.  Hopefully in the not to distant future you will be riding again.  pan head
