Howdy Gents!

Been on vacation for the past week plus and just getting back to the routine today. Inspired by A.J.P and the other bike riders on this board, I bought a bike a week ago Saturday and have been working on figuring out how that works. It's a nice machine, but so many gears and switches! It's going to take me awhile to figure it all out.  Anyway, here are my numbers thus far for June: Miles last month: 126 Miles through 6/18/07 - 45 miles (36.5 eliptical/treadmill, 8.5 biking) Milage goal for June - 100 miles Percent towards June goal completed - 45% Percent of month completed: 60% I'll need to step things up a bit to complete my goal for the month. Just under two weeks now. It'll take some doing. Maybe having my bike will help towards the overall goal. Would love to hear how you're progressing for the month thus far. Stronger everyday. -Dan

for a second I misread what you meant, and had a whole post up on my ride to wildwood NJ (about 140 miles), but then I realize that you mean bicycle and not bike.  I deleted it.  My 78 Yamaha 750 has run a lot, but It doesn't give me exercise, just travel.  For the record, this weekend I put over 350 miles on my bike, but theres no pedaling involved with that one.  lol.

Ah yes. I should have been clearer. Actually doing anything on a "bike" would be excercise for me as I'd be screaming the entire time in fear/exhilration.

I'm doing good,  walked more this month than last, but I have a feeling that the end of the month is going to be harder, because its starting to get hot,  80F and 80% humidy is not nice to walk in but I will keep chugging away, I know others here will walk in worse, but I also get snow in the winter :-)
Total 68.48
Percent of Goal  85.60%
Days Walked 13
Monthly Goal in Miles 80
Average per day 5.267692
Maximum 7.3
Minimum   3.19

Hey Dan

I was wonedrin' where you'd gone... Hope you had a good time on vacation. Glad I could, in some small way, contribute to your decision to purchase a new bike. After all these years, it'll take a little time to get used to riding & shifting again. But, everything will come back to you eventually... kinda like riding a bike (oh, wait... )

Okay, on to business:
As usual, no mileage goals for me during the Tri season...
Just getting the required work in to prepare for each race.

Here are my numbers

Miles last month: 257

Miles June 1 - June 18: 178 miles
139 Bike / 21 Run / 5 Swim / 13 Elliptical

Nothing big happening for the next month... just a few scattered 5 & 10K races once in a while and a whole lot of hard training for The New Jersey Olympic Distance Triathlon on July 22nd
1 Mile Swim / 25 Mile Bike / 10K Run

I'm also registered for another Olympic Distance Tri in Maryland over the last weekend in August. I'll be ending the race season with a Half Marathon in October.

Then the real fun begins... Heavy off-season training to build a base for my very first Half IronMan 70.3 (1.2 Mile Swim / 56 Mile Bike / 13.1 Mile Run) next May.

So, that's my story
See Ya At The Finish Line.

Be Well,
A.J.

Looking good A.J. Hmmm, I might try me one of those tri's next summer. Right now I'm working up to a 5K run in October. Going to start training for that in August I think. Glad you're still enjoying it all.

Hey Dan, Glad to see you back! I’ve been a non-poster to this thread for a while, But I’m gonna jump back in hoping it’ll give me the motivation to get back to increasing my exercise back to what it was before last summer. My running suks, near non-existent these days… But, because it’s become a little ritual for me and the wife, I am still getting in about 15 to 16 miles of walking a week. 1 mile almost every morning… Monday/Wednesday and Saturday- 3 to 4 miles walking. So far in June?- 44 miles! I actually ran 3 of those. I’m gonna shoot to get that running back up to my previous standard! Thanks for the Challenge! Best Wishes- Dx

44 miles is fantastic. You'll be back to running in no time. Course, you don't want to miss the quality time with the missus either. Getting back into a routine has gotten easier for me since surgery. I missed the gym when I was on vacation last week. Tolerated the strange looks from my family when I shared that.

I'm back too. I am at 59 for the month.  All running.  I had three runs over 8 miles so those big days help get the numbers up.  The numbers will go up a little more as I train for the Hartford Marathon in October.  Anyone else in for some marathon training?  October is a great month for them all over the country.  Last year's goal - to finish. This year's goal - to finish more quickly.  Lets say 4:20 as opposed to Disney 5:43 and                                                                                                                            Hyannis 5:10  Scott
