Hey Guys,
I wanted to share something kinda cool that happened the the plastic surgeons office this past week…
My surgeon is always behind schedule, so I take my paperwork and get caught up…
Well when my eyes started to cross, there was a man sitting in the room, general average Joe, fit, veiny arms, tan….construction type….
Well my PS does trauma and burn reconstruction, not at all the foofoo, nip and tuck…so you see people in the waiting room in all stages of recovery…
So y’all know me….I start running my yap….so what is David doing for you???? Thinking I would hear about some on the job injury…but still good to pass the time….
Ok, it turn out, this guy had WLS 3 years ago, he started at 627#, he was down to 227# before he had the lower body lift…they took off about 40# of skin, so he should be below 200#, once the healing is done…..
He has never gotten on the OH board, never went to a support group, and has never heard of dumping…..he thought dumping was having the foamies or yaking….
He told me how if he eats too much carbs he breaks out into a sweat and gets the heart palpitations…and has to take a nap, but never dumped….
Even with his limited knowledge that we take for granted on this board, he has just worked the F**k out of his tool. He saw he had an opportunity and ran with it…..is was 3 weeks from the LBL, and getting his thighs done in a month….(looking the legs of his jeans were packed with extra skin)
I was so proud of him….that he has been able to do, alone, what some people still struggle with, even with a big support system….
I don’t know his name, he drove in from outside Houston, and he is really an inspiration…
To all the unknown brothers out there…..ROCK ON!!!!
Russ
That is truly amazing, Russ! (NotDave crawls out from under his workout addiction rock to communicate with the outside world...).
I know one of the things that has kept me going is having you guys to brag to (you guys are the only support I have!) - But this guy has lost hundreds of pounds on his own, without even on line support.
The super-obese people are truly miraculous, how they turn their lives around. Hope the fellow will show up and post.
Best Wishes,
Dave

Russ
Hey Russ,
Yepper, I did the PS thang (abs and pannus/pubes) and just finished up a major revision a little over a week ago. The surgeon couldn't get all the excess skin in round one so the follow-up was required.
Pretty tricky stuff to say the least. The surgeon describes the procedure as "tailoring a suit" and I have to agree. The pannus has proven to be especially tricky given there is no muscle there just fat. Poor circulation in fat so I developed a bad internal infection which I'm trying to kick.
Between round 1 and 2, I completed the Elephant Rock 100 miler on my bike. This is a special ride for me since it was the first 100 miler I was able to complete post-WLS. I knocked 2 hours off of my time from last year and finished it in a little over 6 hours. Not bad after having PS 5 weeks prior to the ride.
All in all, I'm glad I no longer have the extra skin flopping around, no longer get the rashes/boils and am happy with the new look (pardon the vanity).
Take care,
Boner
Hey,
By the way, here's a pic of me riding in the Elephant Rock 100 miler a couple weeks ago. You can see the outline of my sausage suit under the jersey.
What a high it was completing the ride. Better than sex if you ask me.

Hey Boxman...
If you are old enough, in the sears catalogue, there in the womens underwear section, there was a combo heavy duty bra and girdle all in one....
the saysage suit is like that a full body compression suit, it goes over you shoulders like a tank top, and full body down to your knees, and it is tight. it has a hol einthe bottome to pee and crap out of, and you feel like a sausage stuffed into it....
it is hell on so many levels....then when the doc says you can take it off, it feels stange like you are unsupported, and you want to put it back on....hot and sticky....best not to be worn in houston in August
