Sup boys,
Sorry I posted about abdominal pain on tuesday and never responded.
After I posted I went upstairs to lay down and the pain went from bad to unbearable. I was gonna ride it out because I didn't want to have to pay the $100 ER copay for gas. I finally gave in and my wife drove me in.
After a 3 hour waiting room wait and 3 or 4 off and on pain speels I got in a room. An hour later I got an x ray, another hour a visit, another hour a visit, another hour a CAT scan, and 2 hours later a room. So at least 9 hours in the ER and about 30 minutes of actual probing and proding.
Had an ultrasound Wednesday morning to rule out gallbladder (which it did). I fianlly saw the residents at about 5:45pm on Wednesday night and they said that the ultrasound was normal and they would need to talk to my surgeon. 15 minutes later he comes in and says that it's proably an internal hernia and that he wanted to sit on it and see if it reduced itself because the pain was less, but now constant instead of intermitant.
We aggreed to let it sit overnight and that we would re-evaluate in the morning and try to do it as a scheduled prcedure rather than emergent.
10 minutes later he comes in and says he wanted to do it tonight and not screw around, especially if it ended up being dead bowekl and I needed a resection, he would've felt awful.
So Wednesday night I had an internal hernia repair. I guess the loop of my old stomach had adhered to the abdominal wall and somehow my intestines had found its way over this hoop.
An hour and forty five minute surgery and a 3 day hospital stay and I am back on the stick. I do have to watch what I eat for today I think. Right now yogurt, later, who knows.
