I have a real bad craving for ice cream right now. I have checked out the yogurt shop and they have some "no sugar added" and 98% fat free stuff. Has anyone tried it? I got really sick off the weigh****chers low carb ice cream and dont want to do that again. I am tired of sugar free candy so I havent had sweet in a while (besides popsicles). We used to have a sugarless shack here in Fresno but I cant seem to locate it. Is there any help for me? Or should I just try to ride this out and see how long the "wants" last?

Calling Scott William!  Calling Scott William!   Ben, I think Scott is proabably better suited than anyone in the Locker Room to assist you with the craving for ice cream.  For Scott, the ice cream in the freezer kept calling his name...and he gave into those cravings on occasion, but it frustrated the hell out of him.    Finally one night he'd had enough of the ice cream demon haunting him.  As told by Scott and now becoming Locker Room legend - the man did what he had to do. HE GOT THE ICE CREAM OUT OF THE FREEZER AND PISSED IN IT!  PROBLEM SOLVED! Well, at least until he got another carton...but it doesn't dominate him like it once had.  Best advice - find something sugar free, there are many options out there and have just a very small portion.  Don't give in to the desire to eat large amounts.  While that stuff may be sugar free, the sugar alcohols can be exorbitantly high causing you to get sick or perhaps you'll end up the victim of the good ol laxative effect.   If you have to give in - moderation is the key.  Just remember WLS does not have to deprive you completely of the things you loved to eat in the past - you've just got to employ some discipline. Good Luck! Cards Fan

Thank you for your help. I have been diligent when it comes to moderation of protions and even when I had some low carb crap from weigh****chers, I only had half a cup and still got sick. I have been fighting this craving for some time now and I dont want it to get the best of me. Ice cream was a nightly staple for me and it has been that hardest to not have. Have you tried any yogurt? how does that work out?

Don't try the Ice Cream at Scott's Place!!   I've repeated that advice and loved everything about it! If that won't 'break a Habit, Nothing will! Best Wishes- Dx

OK, now that's funny right there, I don't care who ya are! I just about spit my drink all over my keyboard reading that! Yep, that would give ya an aversion to that particular quart!

Ben, If you Can (and I bet you might be able to) It would be helpful to substitute other things for the SF Ice Cream at night. If it is an "Every Night" or even "Every other night" thing, Then it’s more of a comforter and habit than an actual choice. Yes? Swap it out with some other comforting activities… whistle Just thinking.... Surely there must be some that come to mind? "Honey, I need this massage for medical reasons..." is only akward The first 3 or 4 times you say it.... ;-) I'm a bit skeptical of the whole SF "Treats" route. Even if it’s pure protein low-fat-low-carb-low-cal stuff, Dressing it up in an Ice Cream Suit only reinforces the- "Food equals Reward" mentality…Yes? Maybe? Sweet tastes, even SF ones, cause the system to Want More. Several studies on artificial sweeteners have come to the conclusion that the "Sweet Taste" alone stimulates hunger. If you Can break the cycle, You’ll be better off, or at least have less cravings, Further down the line. That said, I still have SF Popsicles 2 to 3 times a week!  So what do I know?...... Best Wishes- Dx

You are absolutely right! This craving has been going for a while now and I know if I can find a substitute  I will have beaten this comfort food! Just talking with you guys, I feel better and my will power is getting stronger. I knew I came to the right place! I have SF popsicles in my freezer waiting for me when I need sweet and the candy doesnt taste good any more. This is just one of the hardest hurdles I have had to face and realize that it's something I dont need to find comfort in! Thank you guys for your help.

Ben,  I went through the exact same thing about a week and a hal*****his might not be medically advisable and I may take some heat for it but it wokred for me so my suggestion is to eat ice cream. Then dumpand dump hard. If you still crave it after that repeat the process until you no longer crave the crap. Condition yourself to hate the consequences and you won't even crave it anyimore, maybe? I don't know...Its worked for me for the past week Another alternative that I have had is fat free cool whip, I ate some like ice cream, just a few tablespoons and it satisfied my ice cream cravings, a few more on a different occasion and I dumped so be careful....good luck...

I've been popping a Yoplait Creamy low fat yogurt container into the freezer for around an hour, then eating it when it's semi-frozen!  Try it - you'll be amazed at how close it is to ice cream in both texture and taste.
