6 Months today

Hi guys,  This time six months ago I wa****ting the button on the pain pump. I remember Dx writing to use the pain meds and I did. Matter of fact I had probably already went for my first walk dragging the IV pole with me. I remember a couple of days later a guy I kept seeing in the hall told me I looked a lot better than that first day I went for a walk. By then I was ready to go home and was feeling much better. I am a bit bummed today, I have gained weight this week. It has happened before, I don't eat and drink as much on the weekend and I will drop four or five pounds and then slowly go back up through the week. I weigh every day but only record it once a week on a calender I have. This week I am up three pounds from last week. But I look back at the last six months and it is amazing. At my last weigh in pre-op I weighed 364 today I weighed 215. 149 pounds in six months. I had hoped to loose this much in eight months to a year. My highest weight was 375. I have went from XXXL shirts to L. I started in size 56 jeans and am now wearing 38's. Some times I am amazed at how good I feel . No more high blood pressure meds, no more GERD meds or tryglycerides meds either. Sleep apnea is gone also. Oh yeah I can wipe my ass without trying to stand on my head or wishing I had a longer arm.  There have been times in the last six months I have thought that I was stagnant and not moving forward, but then like today I look back at where I started and I have to be pleased with where I am. I guess it is just all about what prespective one is looking at things. Thanks men for all of your wisdom and advice and kick in the ass from time to time. I am looking forward to see what the next six months will hold. My only regret is why did I wait till I was 49 to do this.  pan head

Nice inspiration PH. You're 6 months and I'm 6 weeks. Already I find myself gaining and losing the same pound or two. Your post brought me back to reality. I'm looking forward to being in your position. For me, I started in January @ 291, 282 at my consult in March and 284 the day before surgery. Today I'm 240 and I've gone fromsize 48 pants to (almost) 42's. Keep up the good work and thanks again for the inspiration

Amazing story! You have done so well! I think there were definitely a few FARTs slipping out in that post! Way to go! .....I can't stop weighing myself daily either, we both know why we shouldn't but dang it is hard to resist!

Ditto on the ass-wiping and feeling better overall. It's nice knowing I wasn't the "fat Lone Ranger" Continued success, Panhead. DD I

Congrats on an amazing 6 month loss. I know how frustrating the slow downs and up-and-downs can be, but your overall record shows the power of persistence. And, hey, for what it's worth (probably nothing!), WLS at 49 doesn't look so bad to a guy who had it at 60!

PH, You came "out of the blocks" fast!!

6 Months? You’re an Animal!! Those last pounds are the slowest to go, But also the ones that "hurt us" the least. Keep at it. You’re setting records! Best Wishes- Dx

Hey man!!  You and I are very simular in our pre op weights and loss.  I was 357 (like the gun!) and I will be at 6 months at the end of this month.  I to have slowed down in weight loss and have creeped up a pound then back down a couple, but I think it is our bodies just giving in to the change.  I have lost 110 pounds since sugery and the best part is being down to XL size shirts.  I was wearing 3-4x shirts and I am thrilled to be able to wear XLs now!!  Mostly becasue I love to buy stupid T-shirts from out of the way gas stations and bbq joints.  Check out my profile to see my lattest dumb shirt.  I just uploaded the picture a couple of days ago!!   Good luck and I wish you the best!!!!
