I knew my Type II Diabetes had pretty much resolved itself with the surgery. My surgeon took me off the Metformin immediatly following surgery and told me not to bother monitoring my plasma glucose, but... Today I saw my 2 month post-op lab results and my glucose was below 100 (97) and I wasn't even fasting!!! My Hemoglobin A1c was only 5.1 (normal is under 6)  - Which means my high blood sugars are officially under control! Co-morbidity resolved ! Isn't WLS great??? I heard that some doctors were meeting this week to decide if WLS should officially be considered a treatment option for morbidly obese Type II Diabetes sufferers. You know what my answer would be....

I heard the same thing about Diabetes. I didn't have Diabetes to deal with, but I did have sleep apnea, it resolved itself fairly quickly after my surgery. I sleep soooo much better now.  GOOD NEWS!! Ronnie

Awesome  Michael.  I had the exact same experience.  I was off all meds in 5 weeks.  I just had my 6 month and my non-fasting sugar was 82.  I haven't see that number ever. So congrats - way to go.
