Wednesday Coffee Talk

Good Wednesday morning ya'll.  We've gotta get up and get going.  Things to be done and jobs to show up to.  Whether we want to or not, they pay the bills though, RIGHT?  Thank God for them and the ability we have to do them. Our challenge today is to realize that this old world is not all about us.  There are others out there that need our attention to.  Respect them by paying them attention and giving them their due.  If all we talk about is "us" and what we do or are doing then something is wrong.  We are focused too much on "us'.  I love for people to hear about me and my goings on, but if that is steadily all I talk about, then my focus is off.  I should talk about you, your concerns, your needs.  You as my friend should be able to talk to me and I should be able to listen and focus on you and your need.  It's not all about me.  It's not all about us.  It's about all of us in a natural balance.  It's about our new life!  It's about God that gave us or led us to WLS!  I thank HIM for this WLS!   In all actuality, IT IS ALL ABOUT GOD!!! So, who's up this morning?  What cha sipping on?  Me?  MAN OH MAN!  Harry and David got it going on this morning!  It's some awesome Caramel Pecan with sweet-n-low and double creamer!  Ya'd just have to come sip a cup with me!  I'd love that! God bless each of you today and be blessed in all you do, say, touch and think.   From my book of "Indulgences" by Carmen and John........ You are like a cup of plain coffee...... nothing added to the brew...... You don't need to bring anything  But yourself to the relationship And I am happy......

Randall:

Great reminder for all of us. I think that sometimes, especially for those of us who are in the fast-loosing stages we get caught up in how great we are doing, and maybe let that dominate our thoughts and conversations with others. I know this has been happening to me with my wife and I think she is getting sick of hearing about it, especially as she continues to try to reduce her weight without WLS as a tool (we all know how hard that can be). For her it could come off as "rubbing it in her face" A conscious effort to insert a "so how are you doing?" in the conversation when I see myself getting carried away with talking about me will go a long way... I'm sipping on my Folgers French Vanilla, but that carmel pecan of yours sure does sound good, I may have to go seek out some pecan brew before I go back to Raleigh, I don't know if I can wait any longer! Thanks Randall...

Good morning Mike!  I know exactlly what you are talking about!  I'm almost 3 years out and I remember the same thing with my wife.  She was TINY weighing 118 and 5' 10 but I KNOW she got tired of me getting caught up in myself.  We have to remember that it's GREAT to be losing, but we have to be courteous to those around us.   So awesome that you would think about your wife's feelings.  I commend you my friend.  Do something special for her!  I sure COMMEND her for working so hard to lose.   Hope you have an awesome Thursday and I appologize for being a day late with this reply.

I know that God was watching over me yesterday afternoon.  I had just began so slowly accelerate as I got a green light at an intersection.  All was fine until some jerk ignored oncomine traffic and pulled out in front of me from my left ( he had to cut accross 2 lanes of traffic to do so).  It was raining and I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him.  I have ABS but no ESC but was able to avoid a accident due to good driving and divine intervention.  A friend in my car said I should beep my horn at him and at least shake my fist in disgust.  I know I would have done that a few months ago.  But, I told him that the Lord's prayer says to "forgive us our tresspassers" and I just let it go.  I'm sure the other driver was probably shaken but the incident and there was no need in elongating that feeling.  So, I just drove on feeling thankful and calm.  I later let my wife know that I had saved us a few thousand dollars by avoiding an accident.

Man Bob!  Talk about devine intervention!  God WAS watching over you!  I think it's awesome that you realize that too.  Too many times we get angry and shake our fist or through out other "signs" of disgust.  I commend you for not doing so.  Kudos to you man!  You're right.  That person was probably just as shaken as you were and although it was poor judgement on their part, you showed an AWESOME attitude and deserve the "kudos"!   God bless you my friend!
