Two years ago I bought a suit at Mens Wearhouse. YES I paid dearly for it. Well now we know it won't fit. I was looking at their website after seeing DD response about getting a warranty for alterations for life. MW says ....
  • 24-hour tailoring is available upon request for those last-minute emergencies.
  • We'll hem your slacks while you wait, for added convenience.
  • We re-alter any seams that have already been altered once by our tailors - because you never know when you're going to gain or lose a few pounds!
  • We offer free lifetime pressing of any suit, tuxedo, sport coat or slacks you purchase at any location nationwide - perfect for those on the road!
  • If you lose a button or need any type of minor repair, we'll be glad to help!
  • Our "Perfect fit" guarantee ensures your satisfaction with the fit of any clothing purchased from The Men's Wearhouse.

So guys what do you think. Think I stand a chance of saving some moola. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I guess I will have to go up and find out.

Personally, I think this should be good.....take a camera crew...the worse they can say is no, the middle they can say is yes, the best they can do is pay you to be in a commercial Russ

I had suits from when I topped 300, and when I got down to 220, I went back in with the suits to get them "altered" and they told me there is no way to alter a suit secondary to massive weight loss. I wish you luck though.

I agree with Russ on this one. No need for a camera crew, but this is just the sort of thing that most companies with these policies would love to use on a commercial! Go for it! Personally, having mananged many retail stores in the past... I would skip the store all together and send the company a letter explaining the situation and tell them the reason you do business with them is because of their above listed policies. I can almost garantee you will at the very least get a new suit. Cameron M.

Just to let you know I had surgery back in 2003 (starting at 340 pounds).  I took my MW suit in twice for alterations in 2004 (once at 240 and once at 215 pounds) since I was job hunting, and they did the alterations no questions asked.  When I returned again at 180 pounds they told me I would only have one pocket in the back if they did the new alterations.  They gave me a new suit for free.

MW states that they will alter a suit no matter what, and especially with your weight loss, if they said no, think of the bad publicity they would get if you went public with it.  They really should take care of it for you..  Just ask to speak with the manager first off, dont deal with the regular workers, they wont care like the manager will (or should at least)

I can tell you my experience with this.  I went to get a suit altered after losing the first 80 lbs about a month ago. They told me it wasn't possible to re-cut the suit in proportions that would fit right after such drastic changes in my  measurements.  This was from a tailor that I was going to be paying to do the alterations so he didn't have anything to gain by telling me it couldn't be altered. He said that the suit was originally was constructed in special ways in order to fit a large body like I used to have - which makes it virtually impossible to alter in a way that would fit very well.  Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think Cameron's idea might be the best. I will have to look them up. Shoot the worst they can say is no. It's not like I never heard that before.
