More FARTS
Hey all -
Congratulations on the FART! I'm down 120 lbs. or so from this time last year, and I'm sure that the same things that would have made me soak my shirt don't anymore. I still sweat a lot though, because I exercise a lot more.
I just wanted to offer one cautionary comment:
The amount of sweat you produce is also related to your hydration level. That is, if you are well hydrated, you will sweat a lot more doing a given exercise than you will if you are partially dehydrated. Obviously, it's more work to get plenty of water in post WLS. I have found that I need to be really careful to ge****er in before biking, hiking, etc. I have had a couple of experiences where I felt great and wasn't sweating, only to "crash" in the middle of something when my blood pressure dropped due to dehydration. Fifteen minutes of rest and a pint of H2O gets me going again, though.
Great advice John. I'm getting in about 96 oz of liquid a day at the moment, but hydration is critical. Also, for any reading this on a plateau, increasing your liquid intake makes a big difference. I'm convinced that the flow of liquids through our system act like a river eroding the fat in our system. If we don't drink enough, we don't lose the weight because we can't pull the fat off. Instead our body holds the water in resevoirs or lakes.
Thanks
Greg

I cannot believe I will not sweat when I get on that stepper post op, I used to bring 2 towels with me to the local gym, one for me and one for the machine and the floor when I finished!!!
Believe it Bob, your time is coming. It takes me about 20 minutes to sweat heavy on the elliptical now. I used to be sweating after 2-3 minutes and would be soaked by 20 minutes. You will be amazed at how much you do not sweat. I speak publicly alot and that was always my greatest fear - sweating. I don't even think about it anymore. I'm usually cold. Your time is coming, my friend. Just get 'r done. Blessings, Greg
