My high point was 520lbs. Got down to 477 day of surgery.  4 months later I have lost about 122 lbs. Pre-op It took me 1 1/2 hours to walk about a mile along with 3 breaks, where I had to rest for 5-10minutes before I could continue. Now I walk 5 miles a day, no need to stop for rest, including  2.5 miles or so on a treadmill,  first mile on the treadmill at  3miles an hour,  second at  2.8miles an hour, the last 1/2 mile at  2 miles per hour to cool down. When I was first post-op I would look for the flattest route, now I purposely take the route that has two large hills in it.

You Guys Rock!! Dale, There’s a whole slew of Bigguns’ out here who’ve made amazing life changes. I was just a little 385+ to start. (ok, between that and 400, but 385 when I started getting on the scales at the doctor’s.) I went from a BMI or 50.1 to a BMI ‘range’ of 23.6 to 24.4. Been there for right at 3 years now. There is a new you out there waiting…. Best Wishes- Dx

Thanks guys, that's just what I needed!  I know all sizes and shapes get this surgery, but been feelin a little overwhelmed.  At my consult (this past Wednesday) we started off with a small group meeting.  I was at least double anyone else there, and one girl couldn't have been over 225, and she was tall.  I was just sitting there going 'why are they here!'...  You guys have done awesome, and these stories are just what I needed.  I'll be checking your profiles, and may be dropping some of you a line who are(were) close to my size. Thanks  Dale

I remember my first orientation meetings, seeing women 210 lbs going for weight loss surgery, and I was like "What the HELL are they doing here?".  It just shows you that we live in a very "vain" society.  Granted some are doing it for health reasons (diabetes, High blood pressure, etc), but some were going for it just because they wanted to be a size 2.   I started at 492, I was 472 the day of surgery, it's 15 1/2 months later and I'm weighing in at 213 lbs.   For those of us who are Super Super Morbidly Obese (SSMO) when we start the process, the journey is a bit longer.  I see people regluarly who had surgery, and 5 months later are at goal.....that will probably not happen for you, but you will eventually get there (or close to there). At this point, I might have to wait till after plastic surgery to be at goal... (read Dx post about men and plastic surgery)...for the SSMO plastics become more "necessity" then desire, because of the issues excess skin can cause.  Scott
