Hey Guys, In the vein of Russ’ post from yesterday….. (just a topic to "kick around" no rights or wrongs, just thoughts?) What do Ya’ll think about this? The lead "Welcome to OH" Web-Page is- What Men Want: Plastic Surgery for Men? http://obesityhelp.com/forums/men/cmsID,10306/mode,content/a ,cms/s,a/ It discusses - "Nose Job, Neck Lift/Tightening, Eye-lid Lift, and Liposuction Sculpting." And that’s it. Tummy Tuck? (The Most sought after PS procedure for Post-Op WLS Men? – Nope. Panniculectomy? (The 2nd most sought after PS for Post-Op WLS Men? – Nope. Gynecomastectomy? (Male breast reduction for Post-Op man-boobs? – Nope. Lower Body Lift? – Nope. In fact, all of the types of Plastic Surgery most Common for Post-Op Men? No Mention. Nose Job?..... Eye Lift? The Eye lift looks like Joan Rivers or Michael Jackson scary face! What Men are they possibly targeting with "This Months Featured Article?" Sort of like the "Support Groups not working for Men" problem. The article addresses exactly the most common Female procedures And tacks on a little "6-Pack Ab" lingo to force the round peg in a square hole. Take a peek and share your thoughts? Perhaps a little "site feed back from the Guys" Might encourage some info that remotely addresses the concerns and issues faced by those I see posting here. (just my thoughts...Yours?) Best Wishes- Dx

What? No Testicle lift? The nerve! Seriously, either I am out of touch with these people, or they are woefully out of touch with me. I am not seeing any of what they say in my case.

I just have clicked on it and read through some of it.  I wanted to see a panni. covered, since that is what I need to have done. Tommy

Tom, I had panniculectomy, I love it! I didn't think I needed it, but my docs talked me into it--I'm glad they did! Insurance covered mine completely. If you are looking to have it done, start "prepping" paperwork and stuff a good 5 to 6 months in advance. Best Wishes- Dx

Joe, I may have nothing to help there. I can just pass on how mine “went down.” I did pick up some advice from all of the docs along the way- And I’ll drop it in a post later…. Running out the door now…. Hope all is going great for you! (by the way-Olivia’s Lullaby is delightful!  You have an awesome voice, and the title song is one that’ll be song to my grand-kids one day [hoping for a nick-name that may work J]  The CD is just great! Thanks!) I’ll post later today… when I’m procrastinating in my Studio! Best Wishes- Dx

Dx, I couldn't agree more.......I read that entire article and not one mention of WLS related plastic surgery.  I'm only 7 months out from my surgery but at 156 lbs down I'm at the beginning stages of starting to consider that. As our resident "font" of knowledge, any good sources for the sort of plastic surgery WE would be looking for? I know you have first hand experience with the panniculectomy....any places you looked in particular for your research? Thanks, Mike 396/240/200

Hey Dxe, and Guys, Well this was a wild article…..it was just a republish from a PS magazine, that is personal ads made to look like informative articles… But I have to say it’s ballsy to run that article here, it was definitely an advertisment, just wrapped differently…. So was this supposed to be the informative piece for this month??? I have to say, I have the turkey waddle under my chin, and I feel a little gritty in the crease of my eyes, but not bad enough to be cut on again….and I have had 2 rounds of abdominal PS and my belly looks nothing like that….it looks nothing like Carbon Blobs either. For me, I want the rashes to go away..if I happen to look better in the process so be it… If I  may go on a personal rant here….for the one person on the board that does not know, I had the lbl in January, and the touch up of the mons area last week…In January they lipo sucked my thighs to prep them for later in the year… I am sick of my doc and his assistant putting on glasses and screwing up their faces,  to be able to focus on my crotch, week after week, compression suits that will not let you breath, and still the antifungal creams, because everything is still swollen and messy… My point here, PS is not an impulse buy, it is a big deal…it is a major commitment to the recovery process, I’m very fortunate that I am able to have it done, but I don’t see doing this just to look good….I am vain, about my skill at my work, about my yard, about my dogs, )I am not vain about my spelling as y’all have seen for years) but I can’t see going under anesthia just to look less tired…. I need all the body work that I am doing, but the recovery time is really interrupting the new healthy life that I was enjoying… I may sing a different tune, if I was wealthy and bored…but I don’t think so…. But back to this article….we have docs here in Houston, that perport themselves as the massia to all WLS patients…You have a whole experience of sipping mineral water, next to a fountain, while you wait for your turn…they say that they accept insurance, and then are happy to report that insurance will cover all but $12k…that is for their special body sculpting… This is a money making racket just like the carpet baggers that all of a sudden open a bariactric clinic… I would personally like so see some more in depth articles or discussions like we have had recently on this board… Ok I like talking with you guys… Russ...sorry I may have gotten a little flamey here at the end,,,,

Russ: No problem with the end of your post from me...that is why I chose to have my surgery at Duke, because they are part of a teaching hospital and are constantly doing research and publishing academic papers and studies, I felt they didn't fall into the carpet bagger category and would be more concerned about my safety then how much money they could bill me and my insurance (30,000-35,000 before insurance company discounts $1300 out of pocket for me).... I think we're all begging for a Dx repost here, I'm sure whatever he's got would blow that article out of the water...like you pointed out its blatently obvious this is rehashed from somewhere, else I would be shocked if it were orginally produced content for us...Maybe OH should just contact Dx directly next time they want some good info Just For Men.... By the way, I hope you don't plan on ditching your lady when your done with all your plastics! lol..j/k...
