New Race Report Posted
Hey Fellas!
My 2nd Triathlon of the season is behind me...
Not only did I survive, but I'm actually starting to see some progress. The amazing tool that is WLS, coupled with hours and hours of training, day in and day have allowed me to experience things and achieve goals that NEVER would have possible before.
If you're interested in the blow-by-blow of my day, my newest race report (along with older ones) is posted on my online Triathlon Journal:

Thanks again for all of the encouragement over the past 16 months!
Be Well,
A.J.

Well done AJ. Still training here as I just had surgery 2 months ago. Glad to see you're really enjoying triathlons. Any ambitions to go long, (Oly, 1/2 or IM?) I'm sticking with sprints this year, will do a few Oly's next year and if I'm ready, I'll try for a 1/2 again. Tried a 1/2 last year and wasn't ready. Lake Michigan nearly claimed me and swimming is my strength, so I can relate to swim struggles you've had. Keep that traiing going. They pay-offs are huge and it's such an accomplishment. Lake Placid isn't too far away, is it? :) Good luck. When's the next race? Jamma.
Racing for the awareness and understanding of food allergies.
AJ,
Still looking fit as ever! Congrats on the triathlon. Aren't they a blast? Being thin/ fit feels great, doesn't it?
Still hitting the track along with the weights. Took me 26 sessions on the track and stationary bike over 21 days to finally feel like I wasn't going to break something.
Best Wishes,
Dave
Way to go AJ!! I read your journal and was most impressed as always. I too get into the competitive side with my cycling and what a frickin' hoot blowing the doors off the other riders. I finished the Elephant Rock classic century ride last Sunday in 6 hours and 14 minutes. I was shooting for 6 hours but am ok with the result especially since I just had plastic surgery less than 6 weeks ago and was unable to train at all for 4 weeks. There were 7000 riders and I finished in the top 25 percent which, for a former 500 pound fat man, ain't too bad.
By the way, there are some bad ass cyclists out here in Colorado. My goal is to get down to a 5 hour century which would move me to the bottom rung of the competitive class. 20mph for 100 miles! I've done it for 50 miles on the flat land but never even close when there's climing involved.
I go into surgery again tomorrow so another 4 weeks off but after that - "Katy bar the door!!!!!!!"
Keep up the great work, AJ. Your accomplishments keep me on track!

Oh... my 15 year old daughter provided me with the best answer as to why I've become such an insane cyclist. She told me I was like Forrest Gump since I 'm always on my bike whether going to work, going to the grocery store or going on long rides with my 9 year old daughter or ......
Here's the quote she was referred to:
"Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!"
Wisdom from my teenage daugher - how great is that?
Take care,
Boner
