He's gone
Thoughts and prayers are with you. My wife is a K9 Trainer and owns a retail store exclusively for dogs and we know both professionally and personally the impact that pets make on our lives. For many of us they are more than animals or pets, they are members of the family. This past year we lost both of our Miniature Schnauzers due to illness and like you in the end we had to make the decision to help them on their way. While it was painful to do, we knew that the last and greatest gift we could give them was to let them go with dignity and without suffering.
So sorry to hear of your loss...
Regards,
CF

So sorry to hear that Chili passed. Just remember all of the years of joy he brought to your life and the joy and love you gave to him. I am sure he has a very special place in doggie heaven.

I have sat by the bedside of dozens of people and helped them through that door, our two shelties, it broke my heart to stroke them through the door. My you be comforted by the memories of Chili.
He's so lucky to have poochie parents like you all.

C B your post tugs at my heart strings. Like you me and my wife have no children and only dogs. Our only lab tucker was getting older and the thought of losing him caused me so much pain I got a puppy to be his partner through his golden years. WE pickedup the puppy friday and reading your post of your chili pasing made me cry because getting my puppy to soften the blow of tucker leaving soon really hit home.
well matt,
they say dogs are built in heartbreak. because we just outlive them. i can't stand the thought of losing another. i have just enough strength to see tango go. gail wants another playmate for tango and i understand her reasoning completely but i just can't take it anymore.
chili was a rarity. he had epilepsy at 10 weeks old. we had a very famous neurologist who took him under his wing. chili was not to survive his first year yet he kept pulling through hence the nickname miracle dog. well the first two years of pictures of him show him with all four legs shaved from all the IV's that were needed. he had a very bad case of cluster seizures. it was a nightmare to say the least. he always started his seizures between midnight and 4am, then would have them for the next three days. we finally got him dialed in a few years back and kept him seizure free for quite a while. however, we still sleep with one eye open and if there's any movement on the bed we awake with a shot of adreneline. old habits die hard.
we did a lot of homeopathic medicine on him as well as some exotic meds. one medication alone was over $600 for a two month supply. plus he needed a lot of blood tests constantly. we joked he was the worlds most expensive Vizsla. truth be told, we figured he came to us because we could afford to keep him and what a pleasure it has been. he's been with us 24/7 for every day of his life. he had to have his meds on time every single day so i took him to work a lot or we had a dog sitter come in for his 1pm pill or gail would come home for lunch and give it to him. he also had to have his morning pills at 6am. we never missed one in 6 years but it was no punishment to get up and help our chili.
life is going to be a lot different from here on out. our other Vizsla is looking all over the house for him. as you can imagine, we cry and that upsets her. just remember, tucker has had all the love you could possibly lavish on him so he's had a great life and will, right up to the end. give him an extra big hug for all of us tonight......fred
