Ok Guys, What do I need to do? My arms are flabby and I need to do something.  Now Plastic Surgery is out of the questions at this point.  Can I pump enough Iron to turn these arms into muscle?  Is it possible to fill up all these flab into mucle?  If so how and how long will it  take.

Hey funn, You know everthing is realitives, but my arems look almost normal, unless you put them at certian angles...it took about 4 months of really hitting the iron... your results may vary.... russ

Hey Lamont! Yeah, you can tone up a lot, even without getting ‘extreme’ about it. I was trying to get an upper body program going, but my torn rotator cuff is in the way of really bulking up. I am able to do small, ‘kinder’ exercise with exercise-bands that help keep my range of motion working and keep me tone, without aggravating my shoulder. So far, so good. My arms drew up just fine. No sign of flab but not "muscle-dude" either….just tone. It does take longer for us old guys, so don't expect 'miracles'  in less than about 6 weeks.  There are a bunch of guys here with good plans for such. Also maybe drop a thread out on the fitness board, at- http://obesityhelp.com/forums/fitness/a,messageboard/board_i d,5104/

Hope you’re doing Great! Best Wishes- Dx

Thanks guys for the input. Oh Yeah DX, remember 6 months ago I was crying about plateaus, now I'm worried by loose skin. What a journey.

I think with skin issues it all really depends.   If you start off as a SSMO person, your more likely to need plastics then someone that has to lose "just" 100 or 150 lbs.   I'm approaching the 300 lbs lost mark, and I can tell you that no amount of weight lifting will get my body to look "normal", and I will have to go under the knife.   I've heard some people had minimal success with thermage.  It super heats one of the subdermal layers of your skin, and causes it to shrink up.  Again it's a hit or miss, some women who've had it say it made their arms "passable", while others have said it's a waste of money.  Scott

Lamont, After losing over 200 pounds I had similar concerns...I had the dreaded bat wings flapping in the wind - while noone noticed them as I always had them covered up, I was painfully aware they were there. Like some of the others, I was active at the gym, with primary focus on cardio and secondary focus on weights during the weight loss phase.  Over the past year, I've placed a much greater emphasis on weight/resistance training and I've managed to eliminate the bat wings.  It took me about 5 months to completely eliminate the flabby arms.  I did this mostly on Nautilus machines:  Preacher Curl, Bicep Curl, Tricep Extension, Compound Row, Vertical Press.  There are other machines I use as well that primarily target other areas (chest, back & shoulders) but also touch on parts of the arm that help build some mass as well.   It's possible to reduce or eliminate the flabby arms, but it takes some work - but as Dx said you don't have to go totally nuts and become obsessive compulsive in order to do it.  A good weight/resistance workout three times weekly will do the trick! Best wishes! Cards Fan
