Howdy Gents! We had fantastic participation last month for our exercise challenge. You are once again invited to participate in our exercise challenge for June. It doesn't matter whether you're pre-op or post-op, there's no better time to get into an exercise routine that will quickly become a healthy habit. Now, we've got some guys on here who started off not being able to walk more than a few miles per month who are now training for iron man competitions and running marathons. We've got guys who bike 500 miles a month and who lift weights to really bring out muscle definition. PLEASE do know that even if you're just starting out that we all had to start somewhere and nobody thinks any less of you if you aren't making huge mileage challenges for yourself. This is simply meant to be a fun way to keep track of your progress and hold yourself accountable to the other guys on the board. So, are you in? It doesn't matter whether you walk or run or bike or swim or canoe. We're encouraging people to shoot to get in at least 50 miles of exercise this month. I shot past my personal goal of 100 miles last month thanks to adding some spinning classes to the routine. I'm going to shoot for 100 again this month. I'm on vacation for a few days the week after next, but will hopefully make it up for the rest of the month. Do me a favor and reply to this post if you're up to the challenge. Also send me a private message with your email address if you are interested in a spreadsheet to track your progress. Stronger everyday. -Dan

Ok, I'm pre-op and up to the challenge.  Maybe, I can get at least half-way.  But, I'll try. Mike Ray

Count me in, going to try and get 80miles this month and walk at least 20 times this month. Got 5 miles in today,   3miles miles  walking back and forth to the gym, and 2miles at the gym including time on the treadmill.

Hey Dan, I'm 4 weeks post op and I walk everyday so the "challenge" sounds like a perfect fit for me. I'm not cleared yet for the gym. Are you counting total walking throughout the day or just that special "exercise walk"?  I'm looking to get one of those meters that measures your walking, any ideas where I can get one? Like I said I walk every day, just not sure how far I'm walking. Thanks, Don

You can count all of it. Not sure where to look for a pedometer. Maybe try a sports authority or Dick's? I'd wager they'd have them. Glad to have you on board Don! -Dan

Mr. Dan: Here I go... WOW...WOW.... I am getting out of my "lazyboy chair" ( literally) and making the 6" trip to my idle treadmill ( litrerally), to begin the goal of 50 miles in June 2007... Kevin
