Internist is one who "practices Internal Medicine." General Practitioner in other words. General Check-up. Blood-work, Blood Pressure, Reflexes, look in your ears and eyes and such….Plain ole run-of-the-mill Physical. Sonogram (arterial doppler) of the legs - is a way to determine if you have significant hardening of your arteries. Deep vein Thrombosis (Blood Clot) is very common in Obese folk. Getting a good "look-see" is a way to head off any post-surgical complications. Chem Stress Test- done when exercise to the point of aiding diagnostics of heart aren’t feasible due to obesity or poor physical health. A lot of Obese folk get this test rather than the treadmill stress test. Checkout- http://www.heartsite.com/html/chemical_stress.html Have the Greatest on the 19th!! Best Wishes- Dx

The lag thing(doppler) is actually very cool to see. They simply take a live look at you veins and blood flow in them. No pain no ides just like a ultraasound . very cool actually.

Bob, Chemical stress test is a way to test your heart with out having you run on a tread mill. It set up like an IV, you remain seated, your connected to an EKG. They add some chemicals and your heat begins to increase in speed. I did not really feel anything unusual in my body until they got my heart up to near the top of the range, which I am trying to recall, I think it was 170 bpm, I could be wrong about the exact number. But only at the peak point the sensation was a thumping in my chest but that point that only lasted about 2 minutes, because then they lowered me back down to normal. The whole test took about 30-40 minutes, the increase steps were slow and caucious, the recovery was a quick 5-7 minutes.   It was not really a strain on my body and I went back to work when it was over.
