My sternum has been protruding and sore since my operation.  My doc said that it would stop protruding so much after time - well it's been about 8 months - has anyone else had these problems?  Also, my doc said that their office would contact me for my 6 month appointment, never happened. I had to jump to conclusions, but I am getting the feeling that he might have jacked up my sternum..... and now just wants me to go away.

Baja, "He might have jacked you up!?" Well, there’s no telling once the anesthesia hits…. (don't know why that phrase hit me as funny, but I 'bout pooped myself!) The protruding sternum? I had the same. And I’ve seen others complain about the same over the years. Not ‘Real Common,’ but it happens. Worse with my tail-bone. Both eventually rested back ‘in place’ after I had been at a stable weight for about 3 to 4 months. Missed the 6 month check? Call that office. You’ve "slipped through the cracks!" Get your bloodwork done and catch anything before it really does "Jack you up!" Whole lot of folks who missed a check-up end up with numb hands, tingling fingers or some other permanent ailment because a mal-absorption or deficiency problem was ‘caught to late.’ That breastbone will SLOWLY sink back into place. It’s still getting used to "the new digs!" Best Wishes- Dx

I'll be giving him a call for sure on the checkup. Glad to hear that others had the same "jackage".... well - not GLAD to hear it, but now I dont's feel so all alone.

Baja, My sternum protrudes alot too.  My doctor said it probably always had but because of all the weight, I didn't see it.  Now that I'm so stinking skinny, it's really noticeable.  Some days it protrudes more than others.  You can actually see it through my shirts.  No pain involved tho.  I'm at 13 months, so don't think it will ever get better for me.  Good luck on your appointment. Baja I am 7 months post op and in the past month my sternum has been sticking out a little.  Mine has no pain, it is just there.  However as DX mentioned about the tailbone.  This thing is killing me.  I have had this pain in the ass for 4 months and thought it would go away by now.  Let us know what the docs says. All the best Chris 326/195/175
