SHRIMP=ENERGY...WHY??

I don't know why but shrimp is the only food that I have found that will give me energy.  I have tried everything from vitiminins, to sugar, to caffeine.  Nothing will give me a bust of energy like eating 3 small unfrozen shrimp.  I know with malabsorbtion maybe my body is lacking something that only shrimp can provide.  Again peanut butter, eggs, even tuna won't give me this energy like shrimp...Any ideas?  Omega-3?  Brian

Brian,

Maybe a selenium deficiency? They are quite high in selenium, but most ‘complete’ multi-vitamins have that as well. Try eating a Brazil nut and see if you get the same results? The triptophan content is also very high. Maybe something there as it relates to brain-chemistry. Some good Qmega 3 essential fatty acids, but not huge compared to other foods. However, something about the way it is digested could be delivering more Omega 3’s quicker? That would account for a "mood lift." Dunno….. I love shrimp and have eaten them since around 6 months out. Good stuff! Best Wishes- Dx

Brian, I am a big fan of shrimp and all other shell fish.  It seems to boost my energy as well.  I have to be careful with the gout when eating it.  Try orange roughy, no fishy taste at all. Good luck, Kent 357/274/189
