Congratulations and Welcome to our New Guys. For those of you headed in next week--Have the Greatest! For those of you just home—"Sippin' tha****er, and Walkin' Bunches"- Hang in there, And all of you "Livin' on Liquid only Pre-Op Diets!! Same thoughts- It Does Get Easier Each Week! I know that using the scales can make some crazy, (Slower loss is Still Loss!) -But- Keeping track and forcing myself to "Watch It!" Has been the "What works for me," for maintaining my loss. I’ll eat, but know that I need to exercise a little bit more If the numbers climb just a little. That way, I only make "Little" adjustments to my weekly routine. If the "Scales Make You Discouraged?" Then STAY OFF of Them! But for those who Are weighing in- Drum roll-------------------------------------- Hop your Azz up on the Scales! How much have you lost? Since Surgery? Or in Pre-Op Diet? And has the Scale moved this week for you? If so, How Much? My Starting Weight? – 385 + All Time Low – 179 Me?-   184! (Up a Tiny Bit.....Too many house guests to keep to my normal routine...)

So, What about YOU? (NEW GUYS AND LURKERS? Dx, Congrats on your son's graduation!

What is he thinking about doing next? Perhaps a theater-related career?

As for weight, I'm up almost 7 lbs to 172, but the fat around my middle has actually decreased and jeans have gotten looser. Doing sprints and weights with pretty high carb and lots of protein has probably helped me put on some muscle weight.

I like those sprints in some perverse kind of way.

Have a Great Week,

Dave

Dave--  or is it NotDave?  Anyway, when I filmed my Xenedrine commercial in Memphis back in 2001, I met a guy who's name is Phil Campbell.  He was extolling the virtues of your high intensity, sprinting style workout regimin.  He explained how it releases a natural HGH burst and how beneficial it would be if 40somethings would use that style of training.  It turns out, he was writing a book.  I have seen his book on-line, its called "Ready, Set, GO!"   Its exactly what you're doing, dude!  Could make for some good reading.   Sonny Here is a link. http://www.readysetgofitness.com/index.shtml

Still holding on 4th plateau at 246. Hoping it will break this Memorial Day weekend as I am doing lots of outside manual labor and and not eating much besides protein bars and water. Hope everyone is having success and doing well. Go ahead,...make my day!!!  Impress me with some progress.

Hey Joe, drop the protein bars for some meat protein and I bet the plateau breaks!!!  When I was on Atkins I did a variety of protein bars - supposedly only 2-3carbs.  I didn't lose anything until I stopped those.  The stuff the FDA doesn't call sugar or the label says doesn't count as sugar....well they didn't tell your body that.  Worth a try. Hey Greg, You may be onto something here. I'm on a plateau as well, and I do several protein bars a day. My thoughts were to use them to help get the protein up a little. I'll switch to eating some deli meats or something similar. Great Idea! I hope it works, but like you said, worth a try. Ron

Hey Ron, when I do deli turkey meat I do best.  I roll up a piece of 2% cheese in a few slices of turkey and that works great.  Hope it works for you. Blessings,  Greg

The scales moved Sunday morning, 11:30 a.m. from 246 to 244, plateau broken, But I really appreciate the advice Greg and will give that the old college try. I just picked up 3 bags of beef jerky chunks when I made my Saturday evening protein bar, vitamins, and water bottle stock for the week run to Walmart.  The protein bars are hard to maintain in my car.  I'm hoping the beef jerky snacks with maintain in the heat better.  You are right about the concept and logic though as I remember per your comments, back in Jan when Iwas working t the 10K distance and hit a wall energy-wise and needed more protein, my  CNP said the same thing about getting more from natural food and depending less on the supplements and synthetics.  Good advice there lean and fit looking shaded dude. I think your new avatar is terrific,...the new you with the old smile.

Thanks Joe, congrats on breaking the plateau, my friend.  I put a few more details in the post on the main board.  Thanks for the kind comments.  I am trying to get to the point where  I can run like you.  Did my first jog last week, shins were killing me but the rest of the body felt good.  Not sure how you do it.... Blessings,  Greg

Busy in Guangzhou, China enjoying my new son.  According to this scale I am down 4 lbs for the week.  That is inspite of lots of spicy Chinese food and beer.  I am not sure the scale is right, but I think I will have to go with it.  I am having the time of my life here.  Everyone who can should visit this country if they can. Last week  301lbs This week  297 First time in the 200's since I was 13 years old.  Feels good.  I must be the luckiest guy alive.  I will be back in the States by next weigh in.  I hate to leave here.   If you ever get the chance to take a long plane ride with small children PASS IT UP!!!!!!!!!.   Have  great week my friends.
