OT - 1 day hunting a boar = all you can eat sausage

An eleven year old kid in Alabama killed a 1000 pound boar with a .50- caliber handgun.  They are estimating he'll receive as much as 700 pounds of sausage, which at my current eating volume would be 2240 meals.

SOME PIG ! .50 cal handgun, more like a cannon. Now that sounds like fun. I have shot a 44 magnum but would love to shoot a .50 pan head

Yeah, it's funny...in the Dirty Harry movies, they show the gun lifting up when it fires, but handguns that big are usually too heavy to recoil. LOUD, though!

I've shot a .50.  The one I've fired doesn't seem to kick that much, in that there's not a lot barrel lift.  But you realize there must have been something going on because your wrist kind of tingles/aches for a minutes after you're done. I'm actually going shooting this morning, though I bet my friend leaves his .50 at home, since last time he brought it I blew through about $30 of ammunition in 5 minutes.

I read that article, too. I can't believe a hog can get that big (then I looked in a mirror ). I took a 300 lber with my bow in 2002, Texas,  and that was a huge animal( terrible eating).  1000 lbs., that thing had it's own zip code!  Great story. DD

Can you believe the size of that Hog!!!  Jezebel, how''d you like to go mushroom hunting and 'accidently' disturb that thing!  It would eat you.  I like the kid saying he prefers Pheasant Hunting - less nerves.  Hee hee. It was almost prehistoric!  I believe I'd get some ribs, hams, jowls, rind, brains, and sausage off him!   Bob M.

WOW that is a big pig. Biggest I had ever seen my dad and friends bring in was about 500 but they always caught them alive. With dogs and catch dogs. Has anyone seen these t-shirts? I like this one http://www.slowburning.com/store/teeshirts.html#384 "The second in our series of politically incorrect teeshirts comes in navy blue only, and features the "People for the Eating of Tasty Animals" slogan on the front and "There's Room For All God's Creatures... Right Next To My Mashed Potatoes" on the back. So, the punctuation is a little bit funky (an ellipsis?) At least we spelled the spud plural right."
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.
