I rode The Zipper last night

Sorry, pervs. No sex comment here.

Last night my family went to the fair. On a side note, it was eye-opening to walk down the midway and not find a SINGLE piece of WLS-friendly food. Carnies = Death.

On the REAL note though. My sister, who has recently lost 45 lbs, and myself decided to get on the best ride EVER. When we were kids we used to stare up at The Zipper and wish we were old enough to ride it. Then in High School we rode it RELIGIOUSLY every year. Since then we've done what siblings to...move away...come back...have kids...get busy...get fat.

Last year we were humiliated when we very excitedly decided to ride The Zipper for old time's sake. As you probably are guessing by now, the cage wouldn't lock around our girths. We bore the excrutiating experience of the carnies trying fiercly to push us in the ride before telling us we were too fat.

Last night we fit the cage with ease...shimmied around a little loosely, truth be told. I didn't count how many flips we did, but it was possibly the most liberating experience I've had on this whole journey.

I just thought i'd share. That and the fact that my peacable, demure sister swears like a drunken Dutch sailor on those rides. Never knew that one before!

Carrtje, Glad you had a good time with sis at the carnival.  I too have had the experience you had last year - at an amusement park where they tried and tried to buckle the strap on the hold-down bar, but couldn't.  I had to get out and let my kids ride by themselves.  What fun.  NOT. As for the Zipper - never rode it.  But from the looks of it, the only 'liberating' thing I would experience would be the liberation of every last gram of food from my stomach!  More power to you if your stomach can handle it.

That is so cool man. I so want to ride that today! I'm a roller coaster junkie. I have passes to all the theme parks here in So Cal. I love it! Congratulations man....

Congratulations, What a difference from a year ago.   Its amazing how many doors are open to us all, at times it feels like i haave lifted my head out of the sand and now seeing a whole new world. By the way Amsterdam was a blast, though I spend most of my time in Bremen Germany. I stopped by a coffee shoppe and had a college based flash back experience just prior to flying back.  My company has Wind Turbine division. We manufacture our 40 and 60 meter wind blades in Bremen and I was called over there to help shorten the prototype development cycle for developing new areodynamic version of the blades. It was really nice to see so many wind turbines in use all accross NL and northern Germany, plus the many many bicycles used as daily work transportsation.  LOL but here I am thinking how nice it is that these countries apply green living in a daily way and I was more excited about getting on the German section of the Autobahn to drive at  170 km/hour.
