Why do they make instructions so difficult?
Ok so I had to buy a new window airconditioner for my house...the old one was broken...and besides I needed a 10,000 BTU unit instead of a 8,000 BTU unit for the room. Anyway I pull out this unit from the box and start looking at the instructions. I've been putting in window airconditioners for years....but I figured I'll give it a try their way first. ANYWAY...WHAT THE HELL???? WHO MAKES UP THESE INSTRUCTIONS???? They basically had me take the entire airconditioner apart, install the casing and then try to slide the cooling unit back into the casing while it was in the window. It barely fits in the casing when it's level on the ground... So after 20 minuts of trying to do it there way..I just did it my way. But it brings to question..WHO THE HELL MAKES UP THESE instruction manuels anyway...some sadist? Scott BTW if anyone is interested Home Depot sells a 1 arm A/C unit support for about 30 dollars that was an easy install and only screws into the inside sill...it has no screws on the outside, so it leaves your siding intact. ...in the winter it's easily removed.
All instructions I have ever seen have had you intall that way. The reason for this is, if you were on a multi-floor building, you so not have to luxury of working from the outside. If your have to do everything from the inside, you need to install it in pieces, as it woud be to heavy and dangerous to try to do it in one step. Also some units that are hardwired would to be installed that way also. These people who write these instructions based on libility and have to take in the "One Size Fits All" apporach Will
