Under 300

299.2, actually, but that counts. My body fat % went up this week, so most of that loss is probably water (or worse, muscle), but I won't let that take away from a nice moment. Coincidentally, this week was the first time I got several positive comments from people who barely know me. Strangely, I'm only a few pounds below what I weighed the first time I considered WLS (and put it off). Hard to think what was breaking-point unacceptable then gets me compliments now. Oh, well, too late to worry about that. In some ways I am "thinner" than the last time I was at this weight. I specifically remember that I crossed into 50 pants at 280 last time, whereas now my old 48s won't stay up without a belt, and I could probably squeeze into my 46s or even 44s if I didn't have so many 48s to choose from (might as well get a few last wears out of them). Plainly, I am carrying more muscle and less fat than the last time I was 299. Next milestone: 275, 100 pounds lower than my measured highest (I got even higher, but I don't know what the number was, so let's just pretend that didn't happen.).

I remember dropping below 300 like it was yesterday. I got so excited that I sent a text message to those keeping track of my progress, and posted here. The greatest is when you get to the point that you never thought possible, then going below that. My point was 270, I hadn't gone below that in 15 years prior to WLS, now I'm 239. I'm also thinner than the last time I weighed 239, which was probably 8th grade, I'm 37 yrs. old. My pants size then was 38 or 40, shirt size XL, now 36 pants, and XL shirt.  You'll hit 275 before you know it! Enjoy every minute! Ron

The "never thought possible" point for me is 219.  As I wrote on my profile, I recall several trips into the 220s, but I'd probably also have to go to Jr. High to get to the last time I was under 220.  I don't have any friends/family tracking my progress in terms of pounds week-to-week, but when I reach 219, they'll hear it.

Hey Ard!

Always appreciate your training related posts! (and all!). Glad to hear you're down to a much leaner 299.2! The lean-ness really makes a difference and you  do tend to appreciate even a precious weight as a blessing.

Keep it up, the lbs will be peeling off!

Thanks, Dave.  I need to do more training and less posting about training, though.

That's the hard part, isn't it? Until they built the new gym at work, I had to get my training out before 7:00 a.m. That's the only way I would "get er done". Now, they've built this gym two minutes walk away from my disk and...wait what am I talking about??...I still work out like a fiend before 7:00!

Maybe you're just sane?

I don't do anything before 7:00 except roll over and hit snooze. But I did lift right after I saw your post (thanks for the reminder).  And I'm about to bike my way through the Sopranos.

Congratulations on getting under 300 I know how happy I was when I went under 500 pounds and even more thrilled when just this week I went under the 400 pound mark. I bet when you looked at your scale and saw 299 your feet left the floor. When I get below the 300 pound mark I will probably faint. Again congratulations, guys like you help me keep inspired that I can reach my goals.

Congrats on passing the milestone.  Just a few weeks ago I passed the 300 mark myself, and I know it's been years since I was under the 300 mark.  I don't know what it is about hitting one of those milestone that really helps you feel like you're making progress.   Keep up the good work.  I agree with you that sometimes the way clothes fit is a sign that you are not only lighter, but also healtheir.  I've got a bunch of 48, 50, and 52 pants here that I think I'm going to get my wife to make a flag out of or something! --Dave
