Addiction Transfer
Scott,
Thanks for the heads up. I don't seem to have developed any issues yet, but I'm only 19 weeks out. I have not had any alcohol since the end of December. I had my surgery in early January.
I do miss when I don't exercise and have my daily walk. Maybe I am getting satisfied with the feelings I get from exercise itself.
Before surgery I did enjoy wine very much--especially with meals. However, I never abused alcohol. I hope that I can still have a glass of wine in the future occasionally.
Jim
Scott,
Quite possible this is not a case of transfer, but continuance.
He may have drunk a lot before, but because of the change in the anatomy, the alcohol hits him differently...much quicker and stronger.
I know I simply can't handle it like I did pre-op, and I was a pretty sturdy drinker. Now, a couple of good Scotches, I'm like I had 6-7 pre-op!!!
I'm guessing all government agencies have programs that your coworker needs to be directed to before he loses his job.
Best of luck to him.
