What's the best thing about "your" weight loss journey?

You must be going after women like I'm going after jobs. WTH are we doing wrong? I tell you that I got so lucky when I met my wife. She is the best thing that's ever happen to me in my life. Yes, even better than WLS. Hell, she's part of the reason I had WLS. We've been together for 16 years. Keep looking, we all have a soul mate. It's just a matter of finding yours. Ronnie

Regaining a life I lost.  Though I have been BIG all of my life, I was always atheletic. As of mid 2005 to surgery Sep 2006, I felt like a 100 year old  watching from the sidelines to the point of major embarassment and shame for my family as well as for what I allowed myself to become,...a blob. I can now enjoy, life again.  I can do yard work all day and still go out to eat with my family that evening.  I walk and jog at lunch.  I ran sprints with my 12 yr old daughter and while she was faster and it was her idea of a fun thing to do, she was the one to ask when could we stop. (Silly me!) I feel like the dog that has been let out of the house and just runs circles in the yard because he can. All that other stuff like buying regular size clothes (givin up on ever doing but can now) and sitting in booths and theater seating w/o getting stuck,...its all great but its the gravy. I appreciate life more now because I almost lost it and have that to compare now too. Nothing tastes better than being thin feels. Joe

I think the fact that we were all so close to losing this life, and then we regain more than we could ever have imagined, is why we become so appreciative of every little thing in our new lives.  Ron

With me its the confidence gained. I now think, "I can" rather than "why bother". I feel happy and I must honestly admit that I have not felt happy in decades. All this and I still have close to 60 pounds to go to get to my goal weight.

You're 4 months out, and only 60 pounds left to lose. You can't beat that! You'll be at goal before you know it! Ron

The best part of WLS is after losing 236lbs I am now living my life again instead of just trying to survive it.

Question Tim, In the Tim Armstrong Survival Kit, does the car come with that? Cause the rest of us want to live a little, too. LOL!!! My ride doesn't look anything like yours, but I'm enjoying it just the same! Ronnie

Hey Ronnie, excellent question. I would agree the greatest thing would be hope, but that's just the beginning. Today I was able to officially go off all meds I was on previous to surgery.

* Diabetes - gone in 5 weeks (after 8 years on meds)(3 meds, all gone in 5 weeks) * High Cholesterol meds - gone in 8 weeks after 15 years on meds. * Sleep Apnea - Gone in 5 months after 10 years on machine * Blood Pressure - Dropped first med within 3 weeks, scaled down and last complete in 6 months.

Down 107.2 lbs in 6 months.

So many more but I'll save those for my profile. But these are the big ones.

Thanks

Greg PS.  We should save this post for all the newbies.  This may be the single, greatest thread we've ever had on the board.  Thanks Ronnie.

Greg,  All the meds gone! How great is that? If you took away the weight loss, your journey will still be a success story. Add the weight lost back in, and you have no less than a miracle. Great to hear you're doing so well.  Ron
