I normally would never post on this message board.  I respect that this is the men's locker room and know this is where my hubby can come hang with the guys, get and offer support, belch, fart, scratch, etc and I have no desire to interfer with that. I am here out of an URGENT request.  As some of you may know, Dave had his surgery last July and with his panniculectomy is down over 300 pounds. Ten days ago he got very ill.  I took him to the ER with a miriad of complaints and the doctor from our MG sent us home without even touching Dave saying it was a virus.........let him sleep and get plenty of fluids. Dave slept 24/7, ate nothing, had dry heaves, just to list a few problems.  I told him he was getting worse, but he insisted he was fine.  Five days into this I finally got an appt with our doctor.  It took my son and I an hour to get him dressed and out to the car, he was so weak.  My 21 year old son was in tears and whispered to me that Dave looked like walking death. Our doctor took one look at him and called 911.  He was admitted to CCU immediately and a dozen tests were run, including a spinal tap.  He has bacterial meningitis.  The two days after his admission he didn't know his name or where he was.  He GB surgeon works with an Infectious Disease doctor and got him on the case.  He also needed a cardiologist and nephrologist.   He has been very lucky so far.  He is responding to the antiobiotics and other meds for his heart.  His kidneys are starting to work again.  But he's going to be in the hospital for quite a while still.  I spent every minute there.  My heart is breaking. Please please send your thoughts and prayers his way.  This has NOTHING to do with his GB surgery.  But this forum has meant so much to him and I just needed to let you all know. Thank you, Janeene Gregory

Janeene Thank you so much for taking the time to come here to the locker room and letting all of Dave's friends know what he is going thru.  You can be assured that he will be in my prayers daily until he is once again back to good health.   One thing about the guys here in the locker room, they not only support each other with GB issues but other health issues that develope after surgery that are unrelated.  I know I have had a lot of other health issues with my back, knee, etc. and could not have made it thru without them. My prayers are also going to be with you and your family during this sad time.  I know without my  wife carring for me, I would have been dead along time ago.   Please keep us informed of Dave's progress.   God Bless Dan

If you have a prayer request whether WLS or personal, please visit our website at www.packardministries.org and click on PRAYER or email me at [email protected]

You will  be added to our daily prayers.   One of our ministry objectives is to support those having or had WLS.   Pastor Dan

You may not get posted responses from all of the men here but you can be assured that we are praying for your husband's recovery.  I'm sure most men are putting you and your family in their prayers also.  I suggest that you contact your church and have your husband put on a prayer line  where your congregation can pray for him.

Janeene, Thanks so much for giving us an update on Dave.  Dave is a remarkable human being and has shown such resilience in all he has gone through thus far.  Prayers go out to Dave and your family in hopes of a quick recovery. He's already been through so much.  Thank goodness he's been working so hard as I'm sure he's better prepared to fight off such a serious illness. Janeene be sure to take care of yourself during this time too! Best wishes and prayers! Mike J....aka Cards Fan

Janeene,

Thanks for keeping us abreast of Dave's health. We're all praying and offering up good thoughts for him.

While he's laid up, do you have ample help?
