Boxing after rny
Matt, I can't answer you from a medical perspective...but personally, I would not recommend this. Working your abs (and the rest of your body for that matter) aggressively after surgery is fine, once you're fully healed and you're using proper form. Taking direct hits to your abdomen in my estimation would be entirely too risky and I'd be willing to bet that your Surgeon would warn against doing so. EVEN IF HIS NAME IS MOHAMED ALI!!!! Seriously????? I do know post-ops that participate in Taekwondo, and they do spar, however they do not train or compete full contact. They do take some light hits, but have a full chest protector as well as helmet, hand and foot gear to guard against any errant blows. There are plenty of other activities that will challenge you and get you in excellent physical condition...and many you can dial up the intensity on to get a fully productive workout.
