What in the world is going on? Been 259 for 3 days now, and no BM in sight, just lots of gas! Not even the push of waiting to go to the bathroom, nothing is moving at all. Also on a non-related topic, what in the world can I put into my vanilla protein shake to jazz it up a bit, somethig that's not expensive, and can be found at Walmart, preferable? Thanks, Al

Milk of Magnesia!

(the first question, not to Jazz the Shake!) A Fleet enema if it’s too bad. Constipation is one of those areas where - an "ounce of Prevention Truly is worth more than a Pound of Cure." Keep water intake and fiber intake higher to prevent. Once you’ve got a Tombstone in you plumbing, It’s pretty much down to a laxitive. For the Shake? a piece of banana? And a touch of peanut butter (like an Elvis- Peanutbutter & Banana Sandwich) imitation flavoring of all sorts? Cinnamon? Pumpkin Pie spice? Spoon full of No Sugar added Strawberry preserves? Go with your tastes, but don’t add a bunch of sugar and it should be fine. For some ideas scroll down through this thread…. http://obesityhelp.com/forums/men/a,messageboard/action,repl ies/board_id,5479/cat_id,5079/topic_id,3288077/ Hope you’re ‘movin’ right a long soon! Best Wishes- Dx

This is typical with WLS.  Try stepping up your water intake.  Try sugar free syrups, there many tasty flavors. Good luck, Kent

I remember posting on here about the very same thing. I had a terrible time. I found that eating 2 Fiber Choice tablets (sugar free) before bed helps alot....also I started eating alot of cooked veggies. Hopes this helps. Dave

Milk of Magnesia or Colace for the first problem. As to your protein, I like to make smoothies with it.  Freeze some skim milk as "ice cubes"  take 1/2 of the amount of fluid you are to mix with the powder add a corresponding amount of frozen milk then a few packets of Splenda and some strawberries or bananas or peanut butter and artificial flavoring corresponding to whatever you are adding.  These are available wherever you find seasonsing and spices.  Best is to use both bananas and peanut butter.  Then mix it all together in a blender or food processor.   You will get a thick "shake" that tastes great and goes down smoothly. I regularly mix my Vanila (unjury) flavored packets with about 1/2 a cup of frozen strawberries, a shake or two of splenda, and a cup of yogurt in a blender.

Another way to go is to stir it into plain FF yogurt and add some SF granola with mixed fruit to the top. It's really tastey, and will also help with fiber intake.

Good luck, don't blow a gasket.

Is there a problem with no bm for 3 days? That is pretty much normal for me. I get lots of water, fiber and work out but for the first 6 months now, it is normal for me to only go every 4 days or so. The last few weeks this has been getting a little better, every other day or so but personally, for me, I wouldn't worry about it if when it does come out, it is not a rock but of "normal" texture.
Get it hot, hit it HARD,

Hey Al, Add some nutmeg, ginger, or some mint extract to your vanilla protein shake to give it some flavor boost. Herb
