Besides Food - Is there anything you miss post-op?
For most post-ops, it seems that although we enjoy so many benefits that result from WLS there's typically something we miss a great deal. For me, there are many foods that I miss. I need to clarify this, because now I can typically enjoy a taste of nearly any food. For example I can still take a bite or two of a honest to goodness cheeseburger on a bun with the works and a side order of fresh cut fries...but I just cannot and do not enjoy them like I did in the past. Admittedly, I miss the ability to feast - but I do not mourn it - and for that I am so THANKFUL. I think many of us are this way.
So here's a little different twist on the question. BESIDES FOOD AND/OR BEVERAGES...is there anything that you miss post-op?
Mine - I cannot move through a crowd the way I used to. Let me tell you when folks saw the 400+ pound man pushing his way through, they got out of the way without a thought. I could get out of an arena or baseball stadium with ease. Now, in the mid-170's, whether it's a man, woman or a 10-year old kid that's 5-foot-nothing and weighs 85 pounds soaking wet, they don't move - they're like the defensive line for an NFL team now. WTH?
I'm telling you friends, I'm fearin' for my life....they're gonna run me over and squash me like roadkill on a country road!
So - what do you miss?

I defintely don't miss food....I haven't left it. I just found out the other day that I was eating 5000-6000 calories a day (on average)....so I can still feast.
I can't think of anything I miss....granted laying on my side now requires a pillow between my knees...otherwise it's bone on bone..and sometimes if I sit too long, I don't have enough padding on my butt so it gets a bit uncomfortable.....and while people use to fear me when they saw me (hey 500 lb man...must stay out of his way), I'd rather just blend into the crowd...or at least stand out in one because of my good looks and personality.

Thanks for the welcome back, Dx. Things are going well, maintaining my weight although a constant fight with the head hunger issues. I was kicking butt on the bike until a couple of weeks ago when I had the ab and panni plastic surgery done. The doctor ok-ed my return to the spinner (stationary bike) this week so I'm working my way back into riding shape. I have revision surgery next month so my time on the bike will be short lived unfortunately.
I enjoyed your post with the wls survey results. Interesting findings. Keep up the great work on the board brother!! You're the glue that holds this very valuable resource together.

Sorry bad lingo on my part. I'm having follow-up plastic surgery since the panni/mons/pube area bulge is bigger and badder than ever. This ps stuff is pretty tricky stuff to get right although my surgeon is extremely talented. As she said, better to take off too little than two much cause if you go too far, things can go south pretty fast.

Boner! Long time no talk to...sounds like you've been a busy man...lots going on with you. And as Dx said, had a bit of plumbing work done myself. Hell, I didn't even know it, but I guess my issues were actually slowing me down more than I thought...I recuperated as quickly as I could so I could get back into my routine and feel better and stronger than I ever have. Life is good!
So like Dx was wondering....a revision? Dude, WTH? Spill the beans and let us know what the heck is going on with you.
Hey, I took a hiatus myself from OH and the boards for awhile but have re-joined the friendly confines of the Locker Room. It's good to be back...lots of new faces and great guys (notice I didn't call them gentlemen) but we need the veterans like yourself who can show them just how successful a post-op can be. In the immortal words of Tony Soprano..."This is a family. Once you're in there ain't no gettin' out."
