NSAID use... and more....advice? experiences? Thoughts?
Joe, Thanks. I guess I was trolling for the response of- "Oh, I had rotator cuff surgery and was back at my tennis game in less than 10 days!" J I only ‘push a mouse around’ for a living, but I have to be pretty accurate with it. I guess I’ll have to hire on an assistant for a couple of weeks and translate sketches with my left hand for a bit. I should have ‘a new drug’ by this evening, and a surgery scheduled by Wednesday. I do know that if I put it off again till Christmas, I’m sure something will pop up demanding my time then too. Best Wishes- Dx
I'll throw out my 2 cents (usually that is what it's worth). If it were me, I would take 1 (200 mg) Ibuprofen once every other day until a few days before surgery. Of course I would take it with milk and a meal. I know it is an NSAID, but it would be good for the inflamation. Even when the pain relief wears off the reducing of the inflamation can last acouple of days. I then would look elsewhere for my pain relief. Tylenol (sp) first, then codeine if I really needed it. If you are like most, you hate codeine and it's side effects such as unrestful sleep. Your dr. probably would know best dx, especially since you had major other surgeries around your bowels if I recall. Just my thoughts.
Dx,
Don't know what to say except - take the narcotics only during the bad times, given your past problems with NSAIDs and if you do take NSAIDs, proceed with extreme caution unless you're absolutely sure the Nexium is going to work. Maybe narcotics during the severe pain times, tylenol other times and high tech lap surgery as soon as possible? I'm certain you've researched it really well, so that's probably all I can offer.
Hope you get some relief soon. Sounds like even as a director you'd be the type to get in and "tote that barge" with the crew, so you need to have all fours working well.
Best Wishes,
Dave
