WLS could lower life expectancy...

Hi CB,

Had a quick question. Someone said that weight lifting supplements can be bought just as cheaply in shops LA as they can on the internet. My relatives may be able to buy them and ship them cheaply to me from LA. Do you know of any shop names in Alahambra or thereabouts?

Thanks,

Dave

if you get suppliments from the gym they cost. have them go to either the vitimen shoppe or GNC. both stores have discount cards and lots of specials. i get my designer whey and creatine from vit shoppe and have a card. i save a lot that way. you can buy a 20% card from gnc and they are cheap then too. some of the smaller hippie stores are pretty good too. so take that route, buy bulk like i do and use the discounts. i even buy smashed plastic bottles of protein in 5 pound jars for half price! who cares, the product is fine inside. then just have them shipped to you. good way to go and save $$.

Dave,  You look great.  It is just a shame that the sun doesn't shine over there. Scott

Hi Scott,

Tell me about it! I had to buy a Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) light, just to keep from going into hybernation. After mid-June is when it gets good; sunny, low humidity, warm - all the way to October. Snow starts pretty late too, usually about December. But for some reason spring starts like an old Edesel. I could invest in a spray tan, but my wife might get suspicious!

The good thing about blades is, it's great cross-training for CC skiing and the skiing is so good, we had the World Nordic event here this past February.

Any new developments?

Great Pics, Bajaaddict!

Is that you in with the sharks? Guess that's all part of the Baja.

It's true - I bet more people are lost to swimming and car repair than inline skating! Japan is the worst for drowings because many people drink and swim and then, Japan has a lot of area with no waves, which can mean....riptides! (just when they thought those calm beaches were safe...NOPE...that means the water is going back out to sea!

Also, I know of at least one guy who got smushed under a car. That gets a lot of beginners, because they've never heard of jack stands (like your friend in the pic). I've gotta be careful on that one. I have a van and have to change to snow tires and back every year and I'm always jacking up one entire end of that top heavy thing.

Got any water sports going on down there in the Baja? Must be prime season right now?

Dave - that's the Golden Nuggets (Las Vegas) new shark tank in the middle of their pool.  We rented a cabana ther for my wife's B day in April. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/bajaddict/IMG_1873.jp g It's pretty cool, they have a water slide that goes through it in a clear tube.  It's pretty fun, but super fast. I'd have plugged it up in the old days I'm headed down to Baja for five days after the 4th of July.  We head down to a nice little beach called *****s Cabras.  It's the beach shown in my avatar with the wife.  Not a lot happening there, we just pull the 4wd onto the sand, pitch a tent, and kick it for a while.  The surf fishing is awesome there. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/bajaddict/IMG_0924.jp g Other than that, I plan to get a little sea kayaking in.  Now that I have lost a little I am not so worried of sinking the damn thing!

Dave,

You mean, reduce my life expectancy from the 6 or 7 years I had left prior to WLS?  Uh, no.  Very much no. Quite the opposite! I now plan and expect to live a relatively average length of time, and not have my journey cut quite so short. This is not to say I won't take up lava surfing or some such fun (is that aerobic or not?). Best, Jeff Honeyman

You remind me of a show I was watching this weekend on Mtv. My teenage boys turned me onto it, it's called "Scarred". It has people who have been doing extreme sports and everyday casual skaters, it shows that accidents happen and what surgery they have had to have to get their body back together. You see broken legs, arms, heads, stomach's, etc. I hurts my groin just to watch. Its an eye opener on how safety gear will sometimes help and but for the most part, it shows my boys that $#!t happens and while they are out messing around to be aware that no matter how easy it seems to be there is still the aspect of bodily harm. check it out...
