WLS could lower life expectancy...
How about you guys, has your renewed health and mobility brought about any "dangerous" activities? Could be sports or exercise...associations...liAAsons...anything...
When I lost weight before, it was mountain biking. I actually hit a rock and fell 30 feet down a near vertical embankment into a frozen river and lived to tell. Then later, some big South African Jujitsu bouncers in Roppongi mistook me for some loser and decided to kick me several time in the face with cowboy boots (no great injuries). At the same time I took up Rollerblading.
Now, I'm back to the Rollerblading.
Anyone else's existance become slightly more risky since WLS?
(In case you wondered, this whole week's been a national holiday in Japan.)
Dave
Ohhkay Dad!
No, that was just a "tiny scrape" I got from running over these little raised patched they have in the sidewalks here for blind people. They resemble brail - great for the visually handicapped, not so great the first time you go over them on roller blades.
Is it the helmet? I just assumed it was that I it was my rat ears. The helmet has a visor, which kind of cuts the forehead space and will probably shrink my ears, but this is a helmet from 15 years ago (as are the blades) and the visor doesn't stick anymore. Ahh, what they heck, I need the wind drag from the ears to slow me down.
Wrists are the most vulnerable body part in skating. They can actually break, whereas the knees and elbows generally just skid.
Hiking and camping are great, get out in the serene wilderness and do some walking. You get to choose your level of danger as well - more or less steep/ rocky, more/ fewer predators.
Enjoy,
Dave
JP,
Is the knee operable? Hope so. They can replace just about anything nowadays.
You're into leveraged take-overs, aren't you? That sounds exciting. Maybe it's the elevated testosterone post-op? Don't know.
Whatever you do, put a spare couple of million away somewhere where nobody can touch it (if such a place exists...).
Thanks, you enjoy your weekend too. It's Sunday morning here and Saturday night there.
Best Wishes,
Dave
Anything involving "ice climbing equipment", high altitude and Americans in those countries does sound a little dangerous. But I took a look at those mountains. They are beautiful. I'm sure you'll enjoy climbing. Another 100 lbs? No problem!
The weights will help a lot with the cardio activity and carrying gear. Another thing that seems to help me with cardio activity is Coenzyme Q10, but there is no real proof that it works for everyone.
Best Wishes,
Dave
Haha...yeah, I guess sitting around quilting with groups of fundamentalist women might greatly shorten the life span (inside joke for Joe)...hmm...but depends on what you do in the quilts during the "cocoa break". (Didn't think I could take that one into the gutter, I bet?).
I'm not a psychologist, but I bet Freud would have a few theories as to why those ladies are so meticulous and spend so much time on their bedspreads!
Watch out for the scissors and needles...
Best Wishes,
Dave
