I made it home yesterday; they keep me an extra day because I was running a fever. Who would have thought it could be tough just to sip 8oz of water, I'm having a hard time drinking all my Doc wants me too It feels like someone punched me in the guts every time I try. The pain wasn’t that bad until I had to put away more than 2oz. I’m afraid to remove the abdominal binder they have me wearing, did anyone have problems sleeping on their left side? My right side is alright but my left side hurts. Bret

If you had it laproscopic, it's the left side where they do most of the work.

I had to sleep in the lazy-boy for a month before I could bear sleeping in bed. It was another week or so before I could hit the side....but it does go away.

he, he....just wait until you're bending over to pick up something and you suddenly sneeze. yup....that's why they make morphine.

Hey Bret, congratulations for being on the loser's bench.  Your pain is right where it should be.  And the issues you are having are normal.  Just shows that they did what they said they were going to do.  That's why you see us constantly on the board say Sip, Sip, Sip, Walk, Walk.  Those are the most important things right now.  For the first week or two, do not fret if you cannot get all the protein down, but focus on getting the water in at about 4-5oz an hour if you can buy just taking sips every 5-10 minutes.   It gets much better. Congrats on being on the other side. Greg

Hi Bret, Welcome home. The drinking etc. can take some getting used to, but you will acclimate to it. As for sleeping on the left side, some of your discomfort may also come from the rerouting of your innards. Let your doc know if it doesn't get better.

Bret, For pains that seem odd or out of sorts with the general pain level, Keep the Doc on speed dial. Now is not the time to "Man-Up," or "just tough it out." Keep an eye on the temperature and look to see if there is redness or swelling associated with the pain. Keep taking tiny sips of water till the swelling goes down in your insides. It Does Get Much Easier. SF Popsicles help get in the liquid and help with ‘head-hunger’ a good bit. Hope you’re feeling better each day! Best Wishes- Dx

Welcome home Bret.  Here is to a quick recovery.  Did not have a binder, but Dx's advice sounds spot on to me.   Scott
