I've got horses Derrick, you don't want them.  Their upkeep is almost equal to the autos.  Hay hit 200.00+ per ton this winter and every time you turn around they need medicine not including the hospital/doctor costs for when they have a bad day and you try and climb on their back.  Yee HAw

Electric and hydrogen sound nice, and someday they probably will be nice.  But even if the cars rolled off the line tomorrow, how would you make the electricity or separate the hydrogen?  Under current technology, we would use oil and coal.  (Theoretically we could add nuclear, but when was the last time a nuclear power plant made it through all the hurdles?)  Almost all of our marginal (variable, expandable) electricity is produced at oil-fire plants.  If you are going to use oil to make electricity for your electric cars, you are better off using a gasoline engine, because it's actually more efficient for the same power output level.  And electric cars would tax an electrical grid that is already expanding very fast but not fast enough for demand (particularly on the West Coast). I'm afraid that if we all had electric cars tomorrow, my car expenses would go down a little, and my air conditioning bill would be $400 a month.
