20 weeks
Hi guys,
Yesterday was 20 weeks and I thought I would give a little update. 12-14-06 was my surgery date. My weight before surgery was 324, yesterday I weighed 226. A week from Monday will be 5 months. I would have never thought that I could loose almost 100 pounds in 20 weeks. If you count my pre surgery weight I was 364 at my first visit with my surgeon so I lost 40 lbs. on the per cert diet for the insurance. I am now wearing some size 40 or 42 regular levi's, not loose fit or relaxed fit. I started out in 54's a year ago this month. Now wearing large or XL in shirts, down from XXXL.
I do not seem to have any problems with food. The hardest thing for me was learning to chew my food and not to eat to fast. I have never "yakked" as my surgeon called it. I watch the sugar thing very close and have never tried to pu**** I do make good choices now. Protien first, then vegies and I have added almonds and cashews lately and I love the no sugar added apple sauce.I have ate stuff that has sent me to the toilet in a hurry but that has pretty much passed.
I no longer take prevacid, trycor or any blood pressure meds. My sleep apnea is gone. My quality of life is unbelievably better. If I felt any better there would have to be two of me to stand it.
WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG! That is what I ask my self now. I guess it was the right time for me. I know that right now I want to make this work and I never want to be 375 again or any thing close to it. That was my highest weight. 5'9" and 375 lbs.
The main reason I wanted to post this is that I wanted the guys out ther to know it can and does work. It is not the easy way out by any means. You always hear about the ones that have lots of problems and I wanted you to know that some don't. I guess that I have been blessed, and I am thankful.
Sorry this turned out to be so long.
LIFE IS GOOD!

Wow, Panhead. Congratulations! Reading posts like yours really gets me going. How much exercise did you do to achieve that, it has been an incredible 5 months for you! Geez....
Thanks for sharing and again - AWESOME
Thanks Bob, To tell the truth the only exercise I do is walking. I try to do it every day but the truth is I walk about every other day. I walk two miles at a time. I also walk alot at work and I do my yard work once a week. I have an acre of yard. Seems as though I am always finding something to do outside.
I went a couple of weeks ago and checked out a fitness center. I think I may try it out for a month and see how it works out. It is more of a timing issue than any thing. Trying to figure out when I would go.
