Lurker - Most of the time...

Hi Guys,  Just wanted to say hi.  I have been reading the posts since just before my surgery on Dec 4, 2006.  I must say it is great to see the support that everyone shares for one another.  My starting weight (Day of surgery) was 309.  Today, I  weighed in at 230.  Feeling really good!   Other than a few foamy episodes I have not had any problems.   The protein intake is hard at times but mixing in some strawberries and a little apple juice helps alot.   For lunch sometimes I make chili with ground turkey.  Just get the packet of chili seasoning from the market and follow directions.  Really good! I work out of my home so I do not get to the corporate office to often - maybe every 3-6 months.  I went last week and people were genuinely shocked at my weight loss.  Funny, when I look into the mirror, I see the same old me.  I sure notice it in my clothes thought...  and my stamina :) Anyway, I will just keep doing what I am doing...  Take care everyone. Hey Andy, welcome!  Glad to hear things have gone well for you.  Sounds like you're doing great.  I'm set to have my surgery this coming Wednesday.  Glad to hear the stamina is improved as that is one reason I'm having WLS.  Tired of feeling tired all the damn time.  Take care! Bobby

Hi Andy, This is my first post to this board. I read you message and you're the same weight and BMI that I am right now. I'm just beginning to explore whether or not to have the surgery. I'm really tired of being fat and tired and hurting all the time. It's great to hear that you're doing so well.  I think I'm going to try Medifast one more time and if it doesn't work then I will have the surgery. TC, John

Make sure you consult your insurance's requirements for surgery.  Many required a 6 month diet attempt with specific parameters (monthly doctor weigh-in, no skipped months, chart of your exercise/diet routine).  My point is, you might as well take a few extra steps to make sure your Medifast meets the surgery specs.  That way, if you do decide to pursue surgery, maybe you can avoid another year of jumping through hoops.

Hey John, Jump right on in with thoughts or questions... It's a bit like an 'All Request Station.' Only as useful as the requests made of it..... There are quite a few Non-Ops running about these Boards as well. Some who've had some amazing success! Even the WLS-Post-Ops have quite a few "How to Lose it" Tricks up their sleeves. Andy, Congratulations. Get used to those shocked looks! It took me the first 3 years to get through most of my old friends and co-workers reactions.  It’s especially noticeable from the ones who don’t see you during the lose down. Enjoy it! (and don’t be a Stranger) Keep up the great work! Best Wishes- Dx
