6 Month Dr visit FART
Hello all, I had a great FART today
I just had my 6 month doctor visit, with my first round of blood work. Fortunately, the recent plateau I was on broke about 2 weeks ago and I was able to hit the weight target I was shooting for, plus a little more.
My blood work looked good, everything but one item measured was in the expected range. My Total cholesterol was below average at 84 mg/dL verses the typical 100-130 range. This is not attributable to anything I have done other than having good family genes. There is not issue with a low cholesterol level, though my HDL, The good cholesterol level is also low at 35 versed the 40-59 normal range, (my triglycerides were 67 verses a range of 0-149, not really an issue due to the overall low level of the 84).
The lower HDL number is often tied to the level of exercise practiced on a long term level. This is reasonably low since I have an issue with arthritis on my left hip joint which has evolved to developed several bone spurs and limits my activity level to 20 minute rounds of treadmill, walking, or stair climbing, due to pain related issues, and the associated soreness the followings days.
I walk with a cane for most long walking activities or when I am pulling my roller bag through the airport, carrying a shoulder bag or backpack with my laptop and work papers from the parking lot to the office.
Water exercise is an option, but I do not have easy access to a pool or lake/ocean. I tried bike riding and a rowing machine but even the limited hip motion when loaded can be just as painful as walking. I believe I can focus on an upper body workout with dumbbells and crunches to get more strength related activity going to supplement my 20 - 30 minute treadmill walking, or add in a morning and evening treadmill sets.
But anyway, I am very excited about having lost 51% of my excess body weight in 6 months and lowering my MBI from the 60s to 40s. I have really focused on sticking to a tight diet plan due to my limited activity, I am good at keeping myself under 1100 calories a day.
I have another 110 pounds to go to reach my target of 170 lbs, I would really like to make it to 170 lbs in the next 6 months, not realistic, but I will need to get more activity in my week to make that goal. I will most likly be there by 15 -18 months.
Thanks to all of you… for all the help and support to get me this far.
