Hi Joe!

Yeah, I can make logic all day long. As for the basis for some of that logic, well...not much to temper that here in Japan.

Sounds like you got plenty of energy for that race.

Let's see, lately I've been trying Creatine, Branched Chain Amino Acids and Glutamine in apple juice. Really seems to help me keep my energy during a workout. Maybe it's just the apple juice. Wonder if I should add an egg to that. I'm pretty afraid of salmonella, but everyone says it's almost nonexistent here. God forbid any chicken feces should leave the farm with an egg! Cleanest looking eggs I've ever seen.

Dave, I recently tried to add BCAs (been using Glutamine since the day after surgery, on nutritionist's recommendation).  But I found the texture/taste of the BCAs very offputting, and I couldn't get them to mix well in water at all (they float, and foam).  I think it may be a bit early for me to be trying apple juice.  Any other suggestions for how to get them down? I think when my kg jug of BCAs runs out, I'll probably drop them and rely on food/whey sources.  But with several month's supply, I feel like I should find some way to use it.

Hi Ardberg,

It's true, BCAA's are nastyyyyy! You almost have to use a blender. Maybe with banana? The powder seems to stick to the bananas. If bananas are too much carb, then maybe in some sugar free pudding or something like that. I have on occasion just dumped the powder in my mouth and washed it down with something. That is the Nietche way, though...

I'll try banana, that sounds like it might work.  Pudding is unlikely; I made the mistake of buying a brand with a lemon flavoring, so my options are somewhat limited (at least with this batch, which might be the last batch). Like you, the best I had found until I quit using them was just putting the spoon in my mouth and tossing some water in.  But that was causing some unpleasant feelings.  I now know I had a stricture back then, so maybe they they'll go down easier now that it's been fixed and my stomach is a bit bigger  (only a little optimistic).
