Tim,

We are all here (or were here, I'm in a completely different time zone).

Good to see you and sounds like you're getting plenty of good fuel for the Ferrari!

are you saying that your snack begins with 32 oz of water at one time?  or do you mean throughout the day? al

Probably closer to 24, but sometimes 32.

I haven't  posted in a very long time but I like this topic. I am coming up on two years post-op. My weight has stablized at 260 pounds but I want to get another 40 off. This is the same 40 I have carried since 1974. I have the best success with a high protien diet with a little green salad for a sense of satisfaction. I find myself craving some foods like cookies and chips but intelectually I know these are bad choises. I also know that after I yield to them the cravings may still be there for more. One of my best ways to deal with food cravings is to take on something from my ever growing to-do list. I think that some cravings are a misdirected urge to do something important. My favorite evening snack is home made granola in plain yogurt. There are few foods that I cannot eat but cheese cake makes me sick and more than 3-4 bites of ice cream will do the same.  One glass of wine makes me too drunk to drive for several hours. Good luck and succes to all of you Rich Smith

Hi Rich,

Good to see you back! I know when I'm busy I almost forget to eat. Salad and Yogurt are good ones, as well as whole-grain low sugar granola and other whole grain stuff. It's pretty hard to gain weight on those.

Good Luck on that Weight Loss,

Dave

Hello Dave

I'm coming up on three years soon. Latley I too have noticed the loss of muscle that was discused in the other thread. While my weight has been stable for some time I just felt like a hundred pound weekling.....So I have been focusing on protien, protien, protien than veggies and complex carbs. I  for some time now have been doing the many small meals a day thing. Just now they all contain protien first. I do use protien shakes but only a 20-30 gram serving twice a day. Since I have been doing this the hunger pains have been less and I find my self eatting less junk. I also lift now 2-3 times a week with lots of cardio. I love it! Going to the gym is how I start my day. When I dont go, it feels like something is wrong....The only thing I dont do is those dam dead lifts(whimp)lol Derrick

Derrick,

I usually start in the a.m., too. It really makes for a good day. I also think protein really helps resolve hunger, especially protein shakes. Deadlifts are great for the trunk, if you can do them. I tried them once at 19 and felt like I was hurting myself so I gave them up and then tried again at 44 with lighter weight and was eventually able to work way up without any hint of injury.

Good Luck on the Rebuild!

Dave
