I made it through ok, the roughest part has been the 2 1/2 hr ride home.  The nurses were suprised I didn't need any pain med, she said that was a first for her.   But I am raring to go a sippin and a walkin. Alan

Welcome to the losers bench Alan Get ready for the ride of your new life. I am glad all went will for you, you’re a stronger guy than I was I was a wuss and used my pain meds for a few days. Take it easy for a few days and like you said let the sippin and walking begin.

Congrats, Alan

Glad to hear you are back and doing well. If you had an RNY, well I'm close to 14 months out and it seems that I can eat just about anything without gaining weight. Although your mileage may vary, it sure is nice to be given that kind of break after a lifetime of fighting MO.

I had no pain meds either after noon on day 2 post RNY and 4 hours post internal hernia. I didn't really feel I needed them AND Japan tends to be considerably more "naturalist" in regard to medications (with the exception, for some reason to cold medications, the ones I always avoid).

Enjoy your sipping and SF popsickles and everything and enjoy the weight loss journey.

Best Wishes,

Dave

That's great news! Take it one day at a time and before you know it you will be doing great. Glad to hear pain was not that bad. My ride was about 45 miles and really sucked, so I know what you are talking about. You problably did not know there were that many bumps in the road. Moore

Welcome home, Iron Man! No pain meds?! Sheez, I asked for a six-pack to go. The stuff at the hospital worked much better than the prescription stuff. That Lorbitab tasted so nasty, that I'd rather take the pain than drink that snake oil. Everyday wil get easier. After 5 or 6 days I felt pretty much back to normal. Don't get real adventurous with the vittles yet. Stay with the protein shakes and popsicles. That's what works for me. I went on soft foods Tuesday. Wednesday I drove to Detroit with my son to watch a Tigers game. I broke down and ate a hot dog (no bun)- It stayed down pretty good. I tried to eat a bean burrito from Taco Bell on the way home and had my first "foamies" attack. Not pleasant. Today, I'm back to protein shakes and scrambled eggs. Again, welcome home. Look forward to comparing notes with you, and golfing later this summer. DD
