Sorry to hear about your woes Fred.  Wow,... Hope you have no repeat episodes and you and Chili and Gail can all get some peaceful rest. Hope Chili can go without suffering much more. At least you didn't have to stay in the hospital for an extended time. Thoughts are with you.

thanks Joe, poor gail got zip in the sleep department this weekend. we both have to be up early tomorrow but then i'm coming home in a few hours to stay with chili. we're taking shifts as we need to be close to him now. we both beat ourself up we were gone when he needed us. the dog sitter did call but by the time i got home he was in trouble. so much so the vet wanted to end it there but thankfully it was an infection and we bought him some more time. chili will let us know when he's ready and we'll be right there holding him until he makes it to the rainbow bridge......carbonblob

thanks for the post erog. it really does help to know you and guys are here. in the past, i would have told nobody anything about me or chili. i would have just gone through it. now i feel like i have a group that cares about my health and my family. i feel the same way about you guys too. i get really worked up about Dan's back or Randall's tragedies. this board means a lot to me in so many ways. just felt right to come here and talk about a problem or two and hear you guys say it will all come out ok in the end. thanks.....carbonblob

Sorry that things are not going okay for you... Hopefully things will get better.  You really lucked out with the ambulance person....being that he could speak for you.  I often hear people say that they should wear a medic alert bracelt...just in case of situations like this.  I hope that you are doing better and that you start feeling like yourself soon.  Take it easy with the working out...rest your body..  rest your mind!!!  Thank god that Chili is still with you.  I don't know what I would do if my Shadow was gone.  He s the one constant in my life...that is my incredible joy and pleasure... Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers...

thanks daniel, i have a medic alert bracelet that says no ng tube but i never wear it! it hangs in my car because i guess that's where i'll need it if i crash. the fireman weighed over 400 pounds and now he's really fit. we've never really had much of a conversation the past two times because i was biting down so hard i was bleeding! i just can't speak when i'm in shock. anyway, give shadow an extra hug for me and chili tonight.....carbonblob

Hello CB, I am so sorry you had to go through that agony. It sounds dreadful. How lucky to have a first-responder who has had WLS. I had a much less painful but similar episode a few weeks ago with a similar diagnosis and Rx: up the water and fiber. But who knows? Also, I know how hard it is to watch a beloved dog suffer. They are as much a part of us and our families as our human relatives--sometimes even better and more loyal loved ones. Here's wishing you some physical relief and some serenity.

thanks Doug, i have been drinking water and i pour tons of fiber into my protein shakes twice a day. and i did poop that day. i think i must have twisted something. still a mystery.

as for chil, well, we don't have kids. we have our two vizsla's and two cats. tango our female V is our fourth vizsla. we love the breed. they say dogs are built in heartbreak. so true, why can't they live like 40 years or something? what a waste of truly great beings......carbonblob

CB sounds exactly what the wife gets about every 2-4 years. Terrible pain, eventually she passes out, we call 911 they do a bunch of tests and find nothing. It would be a lot easier of we knew the cause.  Sorry to hear about the dog, that sucks we lost RICCO about a year ago after 12 good years with us. That was 11years 363 days longer then he was going to get from the shelter.
