Two Very Powerful and Motivating Instrumentals which both went to the top of the charts:

1. Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson (an early  90's tune)

2. Punk Sandwich by Steve Morse (late 70's or early 80's)

Oh, and...

Wang Dang Sweet Poontang  by Ted Nugent

Cliffs of Dover, now there's a song I love.  I didn't think anyone else knew about it since I never hear it mentioned or played anymore.  That is a standard on my ipod for my workouts.

Jason,

I've been to three Eric Johnson concerts and met EJ twice (pic in profile). That anybody can do anything as well as he plays the guitar is motivational to me. If you like "Cliffs", I'm sure you'd like the old Steve Morse tune, if you can find it.

Hi CB,

How's everything? That is one of my favorites, too. I remember seeing him play that at BB King's in Times Square. The guitar doesn't even sound like it's a guitar. He can actually make it sound like some new analog instrument. Really sends chills up the spine. The man has such a connection with his instrument.

Eric is also know for being a really nice guy - always talks to fans whenever he can. If you go to the forum on the home page, his drummer (Tommy Taylor - "Rumpledrumskin"), who used to drum for quite a few big names will answer a lot of posts. The guys' a walking music encyclopedia.

Sorry to ramble! I know you're a musician too!

RNY on 12/11/06 with
Dave, Living in Austin, we get to see EJ often. While I was more a SRV guy, you have to respect the mastery that EJ has over the instrument. JP

I was going to say Sammy Hagar's 'I can't drive 55' to represent how out of control I felt going into WLS... My wife suggest that my theme song for Post WLS should be Paul Simon's 'Slip, Slidin' Away'.

Hey Semper Fi - Actually as I started to read the post, Sammy Hagar's song was the first one to come to my mind, but for a different reason.  Now that I've lost the weight, I sometimes feel like I am obligated to experience more of the opportunities I passed on when I weighed more.  I've turned into a motorcycle nut, which may be my new addiction and I certainly have the "need for speed" at times. If I didn't do anything about my weight, the song would be "Stairway to heaven."  Bobby
