I made the news!
Yesterday evening our local support group had a night to remember. I even made the news. Now, today, quite a few people have stopped me and mentioned seeing me on tv. YAY bypass surgery. It's all about getting the word out! Here's the release from the news channel KNVN

Gastric Bypass Patients Show Off Their New Looks
Wednesday Apr 25, 2007
The models at a fashion show in Chico Wednesday night underwent an amazing transformation, including more than just makeup and clothes. These patients-turned models have lost hundreds of pounds after weight-loss surgery. The Stepping Out In Style fashion show at the Enloe Conference Center featured 19 weight-loss patients who have lost more than two thousand pounds. It was their chance to show off their new look and their new life.
Pamela Roberts never thought she would be walking the runway as a model. Today she's literally "half" the woman she was just one year ago when she went in for gastric bypass surgery. "At my heaviest I was 250 pounds and I am now at 110 pounds."
After battling obesity for most of her adult life, Pamela said health concerns prompted her to make the drastic decision to opt for surgery. "I have a lot of diabetes in my family, my mother has diabetes and i didn't want to end up that way."
Gastric bypass is a procedure that drastically reduces stomach size, permitting less food intake, and bypasses a portion of the small intestine, which reduces the number of calories absorbed. The surgery does come with risks, doctors say it is not for everyone.
Dr. Deron Ludwig, a bariatric surgeon said "generally it's not for cosmetic weight loss it's generally one hundred or more pounds over weight."
After surgery, these patients had to drastically reduce what they ate, a major lifestyle change. Through it all, patients say all the pain was worth the freedom they gained. Jake Carr says "I went from barely being able to walk around the block to yesterday I ran three miles." Jake had his surgery in December and has lost 85 pounds in just four months. He says he feels better than ever. Gastric bypass surgery usually involves a 2-to 6-day hospital stay. Most people can return to their normal activities within 3 to 5 weeks.

Well congrads on your new celebrity status. Lets hope this doesn't qualify as your 15 minutes of fame. Big congrads on the jogging 3 miles at a time. I'm out there with the 2-6 miles at a time distance but haven't gotten to 2 straight miles at a stretch of jogging before needing to walk for a ways. Let me know when I should be watching the stands for your cover on GQ.
Nice job, thanks for sharing. Counts as at least one maybe two or three FARTS. (Media coverage, modeling, jogging, being quoted, recognized for significant weight loss, and being successful in public; OK 6,......nice.
