Serious Question: Men only please
Guys I have a problem that I need some help and advice with concerning Erectile Dysfunction. Will it go away after WLS I have had it pretty bad for about the last 2 and 1/2 years and I have tried not to let it bother me. My wife and I both lead very hectic personal and professional lives so hectic that we have not had relations in over 2 years. I realize that this partly due to Mr. Happy only working when he wants to. I have never addressed this with my PCP out of embarrassment imagine that me of all people being embarrassed about something. So the question I am asking is this, Does E.D. go away after WLS or do I need to go down to the vet and get some of those 200 mg Horsey Viagra?
I concurr. Just remember that in the past two hours since posting, you've effectively told 17 people about this issue. However, we can't help much with it. It's time to tell your docmeister. I'm sure you'll be relieved. On a second note, thanks for the honesty. It's posts like these that make our forum not only interesting to read, but a valuable place to visit. I know the locker room is a safe place to talk. Best of luck, let us know how it goes.
Nothing to be embarrassed about - Doctors have heard every story out there. Hearing about ED is nothing to them. The only thing I know about the subject is that Hypertension and Diabetes can certainly lead to ED - so, I'm thinking that if the Hypertensive and Diabetic symptoms decrease after WLS, then it stands to reason that the ED symptoms will decrease also.
However, that is my lay-man's opinion, and you should certainly talk to your doc about it - and don't be embarrassed - One Eyed Willy might be our best friend, but he's just another body part to the doc.

I agree with the others....and as Chuck said Hypertension and Diabetes (From Experience) will cause erectile dysfunction, especially alot of the medications you take to correct these problems. I can tell you (THANKFULLY!!!) that as I get slowly off all the blood pressure meds, Mr. Happy is willing to play alot more and longer than he has in a long time. But Dan see the Doc, I did, both pcp and wl surgen about this, they have heard it all, thats what they do.

Hey Dan, thanks for breaking the ice. I've been having the same problem and as I think back it really started over a year ago when I was diagnosed with diabetes. While I'm not at the point where I take any meds for the diabetes, I did start on Effexor back in Feb. for depression and while its helped with the depression, getting him "up & in" is practically non-existent. Luckily I'm seeing my primary Monday for my surgical clearance and you can bet thats one thing we'll be discussing. Just wondering if anyone else on Effexor has had a similar problem.
With my past girth, I could get to the mark without a record distance being recorded, plus I didn't want to make my wife roadkill or suffocate her while trying. So its been a while. BUT,... since surgery and the to-date weight loss, I can honestly say the plumbing is working better and more frequently on its own. Now if the 24 to 72 hour fix from things like Viagra is what is defined as not dysfunctional; probably need to get the pills. I'd be locked up for rape if I was turned on for that long at one time.
Dan,
If it were me, I would take the matter into my own hand, and go to a Urologist. Have him scope it out. I'm just a good ol' average Joe Bagodonuts but, I know that Hi BP, Stress, Diabetic troubles, etc. and their associated meds can all cause you to fail to arise to the occasion. Your life being hectic as it is, you have enough to deal with besides Mr. Happy. If you need a pill to to make Mr. Happy happy enough, I say go get one. Restoring relations with the Mrs. can only make life a bit better. In the meanwhile, do the other stuff that makes intimacy happen. No one said you both have to get your cookies at the party. Give her some cookies!
Thanks Guy's I truly appreciate the honesty the problem I have talking with the Doc is this. She is finer than a frogs hair split four ways and Brazilian on top of that so Mr Happy wants to come out to play every time I am in there. But now after the consensus has spoken I have just made the call and will talk with her on Monday about this. I have been reading on the Internet about the different medications that I take and from what I have read I guess I am lucky he even comes out at all.
