Dumping question.....

Ok guys, I can't believe I'm asking this.....maybe I should change the subject line to ."lets talk S**t" Ok, I'm 2 years out, post RNY, below goal, working out like a fiend to put on muscle...protein good.... In the past, if I ate carbs, I would get the "Oh hell I wish the world would end" type of dumping....never the explosive type....just the opposite..i've always been sluggish. I have started to add more carbs to my diet, to help fuel me at the gym... no biggie, a sandwich made of toast....maybe a cookie though out the day...my calories are very mu*****heck... Ok I feel fine, i'm not sick...I'm trying to know out your questions before they come... but for about the past 10 days, I get up in the middle of the night, with watery stools, large...i know..TMI soemtimes 2-3 times a night....they do not cramp...just somebodys knocking on the back do and boom..... I thought the explose type of dumping would be within an hour or 2 of when you ate something, not 6-8 hours later... does anyone have a point of reference on this.....it does not happen during the day....i don;t know if things are traveling when I lay down... ok guys help a brother out Russ

Not a clue man, big help isn't it?? But I'm interested when you do get a resolution incase I encounter such on my journey. Thanks for posting this situation so we ignorant types can all become wiser.

2 or 3 things...IBS  Irritable Bowel Syndrom (sp).  A bug, like a virus that will clear up in time.  It could be 40 other things, including a bug that can be treated with antibiotics.  I would go to your PCP and start with basic tests.  Then if you are not better a refural to a gastroenteroligist...Brian

Russ,

Just want to say hello. Sorry, don't know what that could be. Have you tried a a day or two without the new carbs?

Best Wishes,

Dave

I got this alot before my surgery. I would be fine for a month or 2 and then 2 or 3 nights in a row I would get these stomach cramps that made me vomit a couple times. I would **** my brains out for a few minutes and then be done. They thought maybe IBS or worse Crohn's disease (even though I was 400 pounds and no where near fitting the criteria for that type or patient).  I had a colonoscopy and it came back negative. Had an upper GI, came back negative. They finally said it was due to my diet. Since I went on WW and then the RNY I haven't had it once, fingers crossed/knock on wood.  I know it doesn't help much but maybe it could be your diet with just adding the few new things.

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I can't be more help, but I know when I eat something I shouldn't.  It's on me with 20 or 30 mins.  Later, Dave
