Wow I came thru and am feeling really good. Del Sol was an amazing place. Everyone and I mean Everyone was friendly and concerned and professional. Way big on clean. My anesthesiologist came to give me the lowdown on what he would do and he said "once you are under I will make sure you are treated with dignity and respect and when it's time for you to come out I will be there beside you to make sure that there are no problems and that you are well." Picture Ricardo Montalbon. My Doc had mea little worried while I was drinking the solution for the x-ray. He and the radiologist were muttering and pointing at the screen. I asked if there was a problem and the said "drink more, Big gulp this time."  Apparently , he had a hard time stapeling everything and had to suture part of the pouch. Finally they said it was a sucess and there were no leaks. Now that creeps me out because I REALLY don't want to have problems. He has reassured me that it is all good and that if for any reason I feel there might be a problem to call him.  I am 4 days post op and feel so damn good I cant believe it. The trip back to Albuquerque was a breeze. We drove for an hour and we'd walk for 20 min. I have already gone from 309 to 297! Never be that heavy again! I am trying to drink all I am supposed to but I don't want to s-t-r-e-t-c-h any thing. I get my protien drink in of 4 oz and am very full. How the heck do I get 64 oz of water in? Thanks for all your support fellers.

Congrats on the successful surgery, and having a smooth recovery thus far!!!!!   Just keep water with you and sip sip sip all the time.   Don't be too worried about stretching the pouch with water - just follow your post-op instructions on how much water to drink per hour, etc - and you'll be fine. Keep up the great work, and enjoy watching all the weight melt off!!!! Chuck

Welcome back and enjoy the ride!

The water will go in soon, don't worry. Pretty soon you'll realise that liquids no longer fill you up. The suture should be no problem. My understanding is, in this kind of situation, they usually do a double row of suture and there is no proof as to which is stronger - sutures or staples.

What would I do if I were post-op again?  In addition to the usual diet and exercise, I would try and retain all of the benefits that there are to being obese. For example, dense bones and greater-than-average physical strength. Working up to pretty heavy compound weight lifting exercises are a good way. Just my way of thinking, though. Not everyone sees that as important.

Good Luck on the Journey,

Dave

Glad you're back. You'll get your "water bearings" soon. In the meantime, drink frequently (almost constantly) and don't fixate on exactly 64 oz. You'll get there--and without stretching your pouch (which is harder to do than we think). Right now your poor little pouch is swollen and puffy and irritated from surgery, so it's actually smaller than its "true" size. One day at time equals success. Enjoy the journey.

I'm glad to hear that everything went well.  It will only get better from here on out.
